I'm trying to find the right approach to hacking rconpasswords in quake 3 based games.

After doing a lot of research, I've come up with three options:

1. "Rcon Sniffer" by searching in packets sent/recieved from the server.

2. Some sort of client side hack, that exploits some bug in the specific game.

3. Something I haven't thought of yet.

If it's option 1, I do know how to do it in a lan situation, but I don't see how it can apply to an internet server: If the admin's password goes from him to the server, it never comes inbetween me and the server, so how can I intercept it?

If it's option 2, I've already tried this approach, and the game I'm trying it on seems pretty well coded to keep that password to itself...

If it's neither of these, please provide me with a direction to pursue.

Thanks,
