I've just restrung my guitar and it's a pain in the ass, well, only half the job is. I've got a really good method for stringing nickel wound strings but the non-nickel wound strings cause me some trouble. I can get the on and they're usually OK but no matter what wire-cutter I use it just won't cut through the leftover string. It ends up with me spending 15 minutes doing a crappy job, switching between pairs of scissors and crappy wire-cutters to get the damn things off.

Also, my non-wound strings are usually the first to go, when I first strung my guitar I left the nickel wound strings on for a year without need for replacement but I was constantly replacing the non-wound strings.

I don't think it's my playing style, I think it's the way I string it. Any suggestions?

BTW, I use Ernie Ball Super Slinky Strings (9 , 11 , 16 , 24w , 32 , 42)

Man you're a fucking idiot. Here's a suggestion, go to a guitar forum. Why would you come to a game raging forum do discuss something this specific rather than go to a guitar-specific forum to discuss it? The ratio of replies with any form of substance in them will be 1000x higher there, and it'll fit in instead of being some shit thread on here. I'm not trying to flame in any way, I just find this humorous that you would make such a decision. Are you seeking acceptance so much that you'd rather post that here for a +1 postcount and the possiblity that someone thinks you're important, rather than actually get an answer?

Please fill me in on your thought pattern, it makes no sense to me.

EDIT: And go buy a pair of decent wire-cutters perhaps?

RIFK, I knew you'd make the first reply. I am not on any guitar-specific forums and cbf signing upto one so I'll ask a question here, in the GENERAL FORUM of these forums. I don't need +1 post count, if all I wanted was that I'd go make some 1 word reply in a gay thread.

Another fail brought to you by [myg0t]ataraxia

Restringing a guitar should be easy for a pro like you. Fucking poser, I know 12 year olds that can string a guitar without needing help. Unless it is just the cutting that is the prob then like ata said get some decent cutters, if they can't cut through strings (plated or not) you should go pick up some new ones.

Here is what you JUST did.

HoodenHen logins into http://www.applesarethebestfruitforum.com

HoodenHen proceeds to register and then as his first post he puts as the thread title...

Oranges are a rather amazing fruit.

Then you type a paragraph about Oranges. The title of the forum may list it as General "Talk about anything here". But honestly, do you think people who love apples give a fuck about your oranges? No. Now go buy some decent wire cutters. I use the same strings and I learned how to string 6 years ago...When I first started. Practice makes perfect. Now shut up.

I use Dean Markley Blue Steel for my 7-string, .011; .013; .018; .030; .042; .052; .060 detuned a whole step.

I like the Blue Steel series cuz they last a little longer for me since I beat the hell out of my guitar. I break a pick almost every time I play but so far I havn't broken a string yet- maybe cuz my strings are so figgin thick.
