Well my 6600GT just isn't cutting it now. I'm looking for a PCI-e card roughly $300.

But people on other forums insist that I go for nvidea because ATI drivers suck. Would the x1800 be better than a 7800GT? I think it is a little worse, by comparing the memory clock and the core clock.

What are some good vide cards for the low end of 300?

It has a slower core clock than the one you are looking at, but more pixel pipelines and according to the comments on the ATI card it really only has a 128-bit interface compared to the 7900's 256. Also since it is Evga it comes with a Lifetime Warranty and Evga's step-up program.

For double the price you can get SLI.. Well worth it.

I'm not quite sure, i would guess so because there is only one port.

 

SLI is really worth the monies though.

yeah i would always suggest that you go with nvidia unless you are not planning to

 

run sli because ATi's crossfire is still worse but the way Ati has setup thier video

 

entertainment with Avivo, it is a lot better than Nvidia's if you watch movies instead

 

of palying games. also the 7900 is waht you probabaly want because this card is not

 

only smaller then the 7800 and faster including the core clock and transistors, but

 

also is a better price than mot Ati cards that are new including the x1800 and also

 

has a lifetime warranty and the abiltiy to trade this card in with another top of

 

the line card from evga when nvidia releases a new one.

nope u don't need 2 graphics card to run multiple screens.

 

I got a very old Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti4600, which has a normal vga output, a digital output and a tv-out. atm I am only using the vga and tv-out but if u want you could also connect a digital monitor up to it (so you could have 3 screens with a single VERY OLD graphics card). I dunno how the outputs are on newer cards but it doesnt seem logical to me that they would have reduced the out-ports.

ood choice since my mobo is the exact same one from newegg since i didn't need the sli version and the video card is great too and cheap. but newegg had thier 7900's on auto notify and i haven't checked whether they still are so you might want to try ohter sites like tigerdirect.

no. i'm using two monitors with on graphics card...u just need a diffrent cable ;/
