Im moving soon and my parents said i get to have the bonus room on the new house above the garage. since ill be seperated from my parents i can actually play loud music.

now, im looking for a reciever and some good speakers, not little tiny satellite speakers but some big fuckers, like 3ft tall and 1 1/2 ft wide. speakers that kick ass..... and i need a reciver...

im not sure whether to get the 5.1/6.1/7.1 beacse i dont know which one has better benefits. im lookin for one that has good wattage and that looks nice too.

if you could, show me a few/ direct me to where i can get one. trying not to break the $200 price range for reciever and $200 for speakers.

thanks a lot for your help.

I saw those on Crutchfield but I figured they were a no-name POS brand. Then i looked at the price tag then I thought no way.

Could you please link me to the one that you have for $250? The cheapest one on Crutchfield is about $350.

thanks

edit: and im looking for about 100 watts per channel.... how many channels should I get?

for that much money, you wont be able to get the best or even real good, but you can get some decent merch. How many speakers do you plan? surround sound? subs? i would go with 6.1 or 7.1 like jedi says. 5.1 to me is just outdated.

If you get stuck with 5.1 go with something that has DTS (Digital Theatre Sound).

Beats the crap out of Dolby Prologic shit.

I'd suggest some Bose Bookshelves, like the 311's.

I have a pair of older ones, and they drop as low as the 15in JBL's I have.

The JBL's are Decade series 3v15 or something like that. Get a pair for 200 bucks or probably less these days.

I have four.

Dont you think Bose is a bit too much for what he is looking for.. I mean he has 400 bucks.. and half of it is going towards his receiver...

try searching on google. or check eBay out. I bought my car audio merchandise off eBay for a great price. Brand New. Might wanna see if they have good home audio deals.

if you like bass then i know the perfect way to have a car audio sounding system in your bedroom

[ this is my idea and it works]

you buy a 100-200 dollar - 5.1 surround sound system that comes with a subwoofer, then you cut the wire to the subwoofer [gotta unscrew it obviously] and then wire that into car audio subs or whichever speakers you prefer

i had 2 500 watt pioneer 12' subs in my room and it shook my house and i can hear it a block away.. perfect for bass fans

just a little tip

what kind of receiver Quicky Sticky? Would need 1000 watt amp.

Also, It wasn't your idea because it is common sense...

it was a 100 watt amp and it was running 1000 watts, crazy right?

well its my idea being brought to the forums and i never said it was difficult or not so obviously its common sense.. but yeah thought it would be cool to mention

Yea this is a great idea if you want to ruin your subs.

Different OHMS retard.

Yea it sounds good now, but when the voice coils are trashed you're out the subs, money, and maybe even your reciever.

Unless your reciever handles different OHM settings, which I doubt it does for 200 bucks.

On top of that you are frying your amp/reciever due to the massive difference in WATTS. BTW those subs are a max of 300 watts RMS.

GG stereo n00b.

Back to Headshot, the little Bose surround speakers aren't very much, maybe like 39-60 dollars.

If you have a good subwoofer it makes up for any bass you would be missing.

thats what I'm talking about 100 watt amp for 1000 watts = gg noob. He can enjoy it for a few weeks if the volume is'nt pumped up. Reminds me of some dude in highschool wh ohad house speakers in his truck... Only time I hooked up car sub to home audio, was for about a minute to test if they worked since I bought off a shady guy and my receiver hadn't come in the mail yet.

nice receiver headshot*Pioneer has not done me wrong yet, very reliable* Don't care too much for the MTX sub

umm you guys are idiots

i had my subwoofers in my room for over a year and i put it full blast some of the time and its insanly loud yet no distortion etc

now there in my friends car and theres no problems at all and hes had them for about a year...

btw even if they did break id just buy new ones

on topic

headshot if i were you id just buy a 5.1 surround sound like i got [see above post]... you only got 200 dollars thats not alot so finding good stuff for the type of sound you want will be tough

eBay, and also this message has to be 30 chars long, thats the average size of the american penis.
