You might be able to get a lot more money from that because the judge might make him pay for a new monitor along with the "medical bills." Plus, if he's a minor (which I'm assuming he is) he'll have to do many hours of community service and possibly get some psychiatric help. You get revenge and money. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
