Posted August 6, 200618 yr i have some asus board and a 2.66 ghz chip. when i was putting in more RAM i forgot to ground myself and i think static electricity fucked it up. When I try turning it on, it gives a pause, then a huge beep, and so on. Is it the motherboard, cpu or both?
August 6, 200618 yr most likely a dumbfuck. in any case, http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm#02 look at your bios and find out what a single beep means failed. post tests for dummies. if built your computer you should be ashamed, if you bought it from someone you should call them before asking myg0t for help.
August 6, 200618 yr if its static electricity then it most likely affected the motheroard more than anything else even though it still could've affected the cpu or other components in your comp. best bet would be the bios as someone said before or even testing out your components in oan old pc to see if they work or not. (that is if the cpu core is compatible with the mobo, etc. etc.)
