Posted August 19, 200618 yr Whenever I use bittorrent to download files my internet slows to a crawl, I can't ping servers, can't even load google. Whats weird is that it only happens when I'm running my bittorent client, even when its only doing 5 kb/s down and 10 kb/s up, my internet is rated at 3 mbp/s - 1.5 mbp/s.. I use Azureus, do you think that could be the problem? Or is it just the fact that bittorent is hogging all my bandwidth without actually using it.
August 20, 200618 yr Bit Torrent is a bandwidth hog no matter how fast its going. Bitorrent is like putting a Hungry fat 300 lb kid in a cookie factory and saying have fun

August 20, 200618 yr if your upload isn't very good for your dsl/cable/whatnot bt is going to slow it to the point where you can't even browse webpages. If you use utorrent try to turn down your bandwith settings to low (but be warned its going to really slow down your download as well) but you can still go to websites. Azureus lets you define your upload limit to various kb/s, and I don't think utorrent allows this (only high medium and low), allthought I still prefer it because its less memory hungry

If you get uTorrent make sure you follow this tutorial I posted. http://forums.myg0t.com/showthread.php?t=27863
September 1, 200618 yr uTorrent does allow this. If you get uTorrent make sure you follow this tutorial I posted. http://forums.myg0t.com/showthread.php?t=27863 yeah I did, and it helped a little - however can you adjust a currently downloading torrent to use more or less bandwith or is it a global utorrent chage?
September 1, 200618 yr yeah I did, and it helped a little - however can you adjust a currently downloading torrent to use more or less bandwith or is it a global utorrent chage? You can adjust it four ways. Low Med High and then there is Highest Priority but all that does is make it so if you have tow torrents on low the one with Highest Priority will well have a higher priority. So in short yes you can adjust them individually.
