"Congress is pushing a law that would abandon the Internet's First Amendment -- a principle called Network Neutrality that prevents companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast from deciding which Web sites work best for you -- based on what site pays them the most. If the public doesn't speak up now, our elected officials will cave to a multi-million dollar lobbying campaign."

GET THE E-GUNS READY.

Tbh..

Even if that law is passed, it'll have less effect in the UK,

Plus, there is competition between internet providers as we all know, so one internet provider may say "We don't restrict website access", and other companies will follow suit, so soon after it will become the norm not to restrict access, and companies that do will lose business. Plus it would cause problems with people stealing bandwidth and crap just to get their sites to load faster.. so uh, internet saved. Put the eguns away.

It's capitalism. It's built into our democracy. We as a people did this to ourselves.

Now we're complaining about the results.

DERR DERR DERRRRR The whole system needs to be changed to solve issues like this.

Vote Communism in 2008.

There are many hackers out there that like destroying shit just for the fun of it , even big business. And the business have been complaining. Right now the Internet is the wild west of today. The Internet was put up for research, and education and to transfer documents from one place to another. But that all fell apart because the government left it open for anyone. So someday the government is going to come in and take over, and just leave it up for the business and other important things. But the government would have to go threw a lot of stuff to do that, so it's probably all going to rely on voting. Anything is possible at this moment for the web.

Or they could just take down the web.

The fact stands that private companys own the backbones of the internet and have their right to do what they want.

Just because we're USED to it being usable by us dosen't mean they are obligated to let us use it. It is theirs, they have the right to do what they wish with their posession.

Net Nutrality has been around for a while now.

But I agree that we shouldn't just let this happen.

Hypocrites represent!

You don't trust the government enough to spend your tax dollars but you trust them enough to run the fucking internet? Are you a goddamn idiot? Have some principles morons. Either the government is stupid and can't be trusted or the government is trustworthy. One leads to net neutrality legislation, the other one leads to further privatization. GUESS WHICH ONE IS BETTER FOR THE WORLD?

No one actually owns the Internet, people own chunks of the Internet (Hosting company's) But it's true, the hosting company's could do what they want to the websites they run. But I'd Imagen hosting company's hating to delete a website, because they loose a tiny chunk of there salary. But like I said, the government could take over at any moment, but I really don't think the government cares at this moment, they've got bigger things on there hands. It also relys on Computers and operating systems, for instance, the only reason I have a Computer is to check my email, and to do work that involves online activity. So if the Internet was taken down, my Computer is basically useless to me. So yeah, it would suck if the Internet was taken down.
