good man

Ever since Dirk Lance (the Incubus bassist for those who don't know) left, Incubus hasn't been the same. R.I.P the true Incubus.

just to clarify for you, indie = independant.

idiot

There is no need for you to try to explain words to me.

indie is like alternative - no one could figure out how to classify their music so they just made up a new style. tons of 'indie' bands sound completely different from one another

"oh man this sounds great! but wtf is it...oh well, lets just play it safe! its indie rock!"

anyone else here play guitar?

I play guitar.

Practically everyone does these days it appears, me included, however i'm much more interested in just chilling and strumming a few chords, rather then sitting for hours trying to learn a trivium solo to show off to all my friends to get cool like so many people do, I mean a music shop in the city centre has a song banlist, if you test a guitar you can't play anything like sweet child o' mine (cus its showoff material cus everyone recognises it) etc. Playing an instrument fast and accurately is respectable, but to play music purely to be good at it is just not right imo, emotionless music just feels like it has something missing (no, I don't mean emo music, if you play for fun then to show off then you will know what I mean).

Take Steve Vai for example, he is truely amazing, but you can tell that he has a genuine passion for music, he isn't just here to show off, but then again he practiced for like 10 hours of each day for many years, I guess it's hard for him to regress, especially when playing so fast comes so naturally to him.

steve vai is good but his songs are just so fucking boring. theyre too slow. i guess he's never really caught my attention but ive heard bits and pieces that sounded ok. and its weird cos some of his shit sounds simple but when you actually try and play it, its almost impossible to get the same sound (probably cos he uses thousands of dollars worth of equipment)

how long have you been playing, what style of music?

Since December 2003'.

i play in my schools jazz band. when I get bored i sometimes slap and all that funky stuff. most of the time when i play bass at home i set up the drum machine and improvise. ive been getting into music theory for the last year and half

anyone play drums? or synth? ive been rockin both for quite a while now

i fool around with my friends electric drumset, they sound awesome
