if yuo dont use cable get your raggedy ass out my thread scum

^^^^That cat in yuor sig is a fgt^^^^
rufl it would be fun to uncap, but i bet it would be pretty easy for the cable company to see who is hogging all the bandwith, especially where I live, in a smaller community.

Remember, uncapping is SOOOOO easy to detect on the cable company end. I work for a ISP and can tell you that there are programs in place that see this. Also remember, that people have been arrested for this under the cable theft law.

I wouldn't recommend uncapping, at the very least you'll get caught and lose your service.

Some of the other cool new hacks for cable modems can be fun though. Like the one that allows you to sniff other peoples packets that use the service. That to my knowledge would be almost impossible for them to detect.

that sucks, o well, thanks, i was gonna try to uncap ^^

i was gonna uncap a long time ago but it was being a bitch with my gayass 3com sharkfin modem and i guess it isnt worth getting caught
yeah i should have mentioned that your isp will have your nuts for doing it, its mostly for educational purposes

uncapping is easily and quickly identified, unless you figure out how to monitor the whole trunk line, so you don't create unusual amounts of traffic to draw their attention...the processes involved in doing this ARE illegal, to say the least, though.

However...monitoring the traffic on your neighborhood line DOES give information you can use to your profit....blackmail, sales of personal information neighbors have transmitted over their machine, and so on, while illegal, is THE motivation behind most "real" hacking....

wtf hax i uncapped like a year ago and they still havent caught npor...its magic.

your isp can easily detect you uncapping by checking your bandwidth use, you can get huge fine or possible ban from the isp

so far im not happy with a 20gb down / 2gb up bandwidth per month

but im glad the download speed is great, usually more than 500KB down / 60KB up :grin2:

Blueyonder UK 512k ISP, £25/month

Mines 512k down 15up....not amazing speeds then again i have no bw limits at all and many occasions ive been downloading constantly at top speed for most of the month. 20g limit wouldnt last me very long... i download a lot of movies/games etc...
