Posted September 6, 200618 yr What are your stock heatsink CPU temps? Mine goes up to 114F / 45.5C playing games and is around 98F/37C idle. Is that bad? Thankis.
September 6, 200618 yr what processor you have? that sounds rly high, plz give the temps again in celsius.
September 6, 200618 yr its good dont worry mine is aroudn 30c idle and 40 when on high load if u rly want to cool it off get some arctic silver and a good fan/heatsink
September 6, 200618 yr Author Aight thank you. Just got my motherboard back from ASUS trying to fix it for 3 weeks so they just sent me a new motherboard. I'm just really paranoid cuz my onboard mobo fan kept overheating like crazy.
September 7, 200618 yr Aight thank you. Just got my motherboard back from ASUS trying to fix it for 3 weeks so they just sent me a new motherboard. I'm just really paranoid cuz my onboard mobo fan kept overheating like crazy. are you talking about the cpu fan or some other fan on the mobo? is the cpu fan spinning really fast and loud? thats not good
September 7, 200618 yr Author sideways;378065']are you talking about the cpu fan or some other fan on the mobo? is the cpu fan spinning really fast and loud? thats not good Yeah I'm talking about the CPU fan. I just said I was paranoid because BIOS said my onboard motherfan was slow/broken. Then it started saying that for my CPU, which wasn't true. So ASUS sent me a replacement and it still did it so I sent in my motherbard and now I am just extremely paranoid about both fans. My motherboard fan seems to be fine.
September 7, 200618 yr What are your stock heatsink CPU temps? Mine goes up to 114F / 45.5C playing games and is around 98F/37C idle. Is that bad? Thankis. Mine averages the same, using a AMD 939 64 bit 3200+ that is overclocked 400MZ on stock cooling.
September 7, 200618 yr my old computer had a Pent 4 3.2 and was 40 C idle and 60 C load my new comp is water cooled :) 4-7 c idle 10c load, when oc'd to 3.8ghz 10c idle 14-15c load (this is a 3.4 ghz D core btw)
September 7, 200618 yr hooking the rig up outside or in a tub of ice water usually gets the job done for me, but im not too sure how many of the lower class noobs here have a waterproof comp like i do
September 7, 200618 yr damn, didn't know you could get that much of a heat reduction... might have to look into that. Currently, running about 45c, was about 55c after a game until I realised there was virtually NO thermal paste on CPU chip. It had turned into a dry crusty bubbled cement like substance (after 2 years of heavy use :) ). I replaced it with Arctic Silver, and the temperature dropped 10c to 45. Since then I stuck in a case fan (was previously only using the PSU and stock fans on CPU/Northbridge). Haven't checked temps yet. Main problem is my vid-card locking up. I've been told it's my PSU. Will try another PSU for the vid card alone see if that helps at all.
September 7, 200618 yr Author So would these two help a litlte or a lot? Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835100007 ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustRatingReview.asp?Item=N82E16835186134
September 7, 200618 yr yes go with the AC5 for thermal paste but imo get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835109125 i had the old vers the ( norm xp-120) and it down my temps 10-20C P.S use a Panasonic Panaflow 120 fan, there loud as fuck but worth it
September 7, 200618 yr Also, you can remove one of the drive slots on the front of the case and have your fans sucking air out the back, this gave me an extra few degrees celcius, but the problem then could be a little extra dust. Not much though, so don't worry too much.
September 7, 200618 yr Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835100007 That stuff works really well. AMD 4000+ 31C@20% load w/ stock cooler
September 7, 200618 yr a good lapping on the heatsinks suface before you use the thermal paste can also make a big difference its not needed but does help. If you are gonna use a new heatsink then it should be good to go from the start.
September 14, 200618 yr hooking the rig up outside or in a tub of ice water usually gets the job done for me, but im not too sure how many of the lower class noobs here have a waterproof comp like i do STFU your the noob. You don't have to waterproof it, just use cooking oil.
