September 15, 200618 yr People say that your record is cleared when you turn 16/18 but its a bit of a lie. everything illegal that goes down on your record from after your 12 years old stays on your record permenatly. But if your going into a job where they check your background very throughly (police) they may exempt your record if you did stuff under 16/18 if it is just a summary offense. Anything serious hybrid/indictable offenses such as theft over 5000-7000 (depending on state) or murder/manslaughter will stay on your record forever even if you did it while you were 12. not sure where the whole getting a clean start and record sweep theory began.

September 15, 200618 yr do not think anything from your record will ever be forgotten unless it is legally exponged by the court to answer your question, no your felonies will never go away. in most states you wont be able to legally purchase a gun or get a decent job, regardless if your felony is felonious use of a cell phone. in response to all the other idiots who answered a bunch of questions that you didnt ask, your record under age 18 is not removed but merely sealed away not to ever be reopened without a court order (and a necessary reason)

Some states they expire, others allow you to file with the court to have them removed after you have completed your sentence or punishment and still others do not allow them to be removed ever, for any reason.
