Check this out... http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16612280~mode=flat If you can't figure this out, I would give myself a static ip address, subnet mask, and gateway address, then wait and see if you still get problems. If not, then you prolly need to turn off DHCP from your router(I'm asuuming you got a router), and use your cable company's DHCP services.
