Posted October 8, 200618 yr Looking for opinions on the best video card to buy.... Today my card fully fried, was having troubles with it for quite some time, but today..... I couldn't even boot or anything... Tried a few things to see if it really was the card or not, few people told me it could have been ram or any ammount of things.... But I just threw in my old ass card and its running with alot less problems now, I can actually sign in to windows.... It'd boot up fine for everything but as soon as windows went to load, everything would just fuck up, I uninstalled the driver and I could still come on but there were lines, but the second I put in the drivers, it would fuck up again.. .so I dunno, don't care, fuck that card..... So I was wondering what you all thought was the best for the best price....... I didn't wanna buy a new one, might not for awhile but this one is shit so i proabbly will... whatever and i know theres nuff people been waiting for me to get on bf2 and rage with em.. they all left me and my 1.6 raging alone silverware huns ;) anyways start posting ***gots
October 8, 200618 yr Wrong forum. You fail. Btw, anything around the Radeon X1600 are well priced and can play easily all the new games. You forgot to mention, APG/PCI-E, amount of RAM you're looking for in the card. Another step you failed at. Anything that has 512 is good. Dont get any less if you want to play BF2 with good without any lag spikes due to texture overflow. So you'd be looking at something like the X800GTO APG, or X800XT PCI-E. Or anything X1600, X1800, X1900 with 512mb ram or higher.

October 8, 200618 yr Well, 256 is fine too, most games dont even use the full 256. I have a ATi Radeon X800XL or something like that, its AGP and 256MB and it plays games well.. I got it from a friend for $50 so I think I got a deal...

October 8, 200618 yr if you have a decent one you might even want to wait for vista so you have a dx10 compatible card
October 8, 200618 yr Yeah that is a pretty good deal... I don't know if I'd buy one of these cards if I wasn't offered that price though... http://www.compsource.com/ttechnote.asp?part_no=GX800XLAGPWB&src=F It seems kinda expensive for such a card... My friend really wanted that new Nvedia card though..
October 8, 200618 yr To have any of the new shader features, you'll need 512. Dont waste your time and buy old stuff(256mb). Its already not enough.
October 9, 200618 yr i have a Nvidia 7900gtx, if u got teh money go for that, and stay the fuck away from the 7950, its buggyer then shit

My friend really wanted that new Nvedia card though.. I generally like to stick with Nvidia, I like them better mainly because of less buggy drivers, and easier interface with the drivers. But anyways I bought a 7900GT for ~300$ and I was pretty happy.

I have a gx2 installed and it worked fine with the drivers that i updated with from nvidias site. the drivers on the cd seemed fine to me except for its handling of bf2 when i first ran it. jsut had to reinstall though and everything was fine.
