RHCP

The Stone Roses("Fools Gold" is an absolute must)

Incubus(sort of funky, i guess)

only bands i could think of off the top of my head that fit your vague category

Funky beats? Ahha.

Dntel

The Faint

Starlight Mints

Those are some really abstract bands.. You might love them, you might hate them.

Get Soulseek and search for 'Hex Enduction Hour', it's their best album.

Oh, and if you've ever watched Silence Of The Lambs, the track 'Hip Priest' (from Hex Enduction Hour) is the song that plays when Clarice goes down into Buffalo Bill's cellar at the end of the film.

Dream Theater, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice In Chains, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, etc.
