October 24, 200618 yr I thought that that was a plan to set up military tribunals for suspected terrorists cought on the field of battle. Or are you spinning it typical liberal style??? Or maybe you sacrificed the truth in order to continue your vendetta against Bush. You fail. Unless you have concrete proof that this is true, which i doubt. other than your "Source". Since your too lazy to read about this on your own and fatass Rush obviously hasn't told you about it. Here are a few quotes from some pretty prominent law professors, to show you what the concern here is: Yale Law Professor Bruce Ackerman states in the L.A. Times , "The compromise legislation....authorizes the president to seize American citizens as enemy combatants, even if they have never left the United States. And once thrown into military prison, they cannot expect a trial by their peers or any other of the normal protections of the Bill of Rights." Similarly, law Professor Marty Lederman explains : "this [subsection (ii) of the definition of 'unlawful enemy combatant'] means that if the Pentagon says you're an unlawful enemy combatant -- using whatever criteria they wish -- then as far as Congress, and U.S. law, is concerned, you are one, whether or not you have had any connection to 'hostilities' at all." Yes, the Bush administration claims this will only effect terrorists, yet it was not written in a legal way that guarantess protection from this for American citzens.

Absolutely, I am a truely an independant thinker. I follow no political party. I was just as hard on the Clinton administration then I am on the Bush, the only different is, looking back, I can now say the Clinton administration was not nearly as bad. Unlike Fox News my criticism is directed towards all government.

Personally I think they've been allowed to cross lines that can not be traversed back in the opposite direction. I think we've put them in a place where our elections mean nothing, but then again we've been there for a long time. With the separation of districts and them being shaped at the will of the party in charge, local voting is pre-decided, which only works it's way up. To think a new presidential election will accomplish much is a dream, but let's see what happens.
October 24, 200618 yr lol kinda reminds me of the Nazi's rise to power Oh noes Reichstag fire! Communists are attacking quick, suspend the consitution ok mr. hitler why not , you're dealing with those evil commies why should I care? Oh noes 9/11! terrorists are attacking, quick patriot act and slowly take away parts of the constitution. ok mr bush don't see why not, it doesn't affect me that some raghead terroist can have his liberties taken away then next thing you no all sorts of crazy shit starts happening but you're constantly reminded that its for the greater good of germany and its the jews causing the problems/for you're freedoms that the terrorists are attacking and causing problems. But really people don't give a shit about it until it affects them and by then its too late to do anything. What would people care more about, people being secretly executed, tortured imprisoned etc. or if the government one day banned T.V

October 25, 200618 yr i haven't been proud to be american since i became aware of the state of our nation. i was pissed enough about the number of fatasses, idiots, and how we won't pass a bill supporting the drowning of retarded children, but this pushes the boundaries of idiocy. glad to know that we'll be nuked soon enough anyway and we won't be a big deal in the world because we'll lose our "superpower" status. honestly, does anyone in this forum have access to dirty bombs? i'd like to take care of this issue promptly.

October 25, 200618 yr The last good President we've had was Ronald Reagon. And no, I don't listen to Rush. Patriotism was at an all time high since ww2, and it took terrorism to reach half that level in the last decade. The only good presidents that the US ever had were assassinated. Reagan was as good of a president as Schwarzenegger of a governor. WW2 was the last war justified and the US has been losing support for wars ever since. Terrorism was advertised in the last decade to jumpstart this nation's war driven economy. However, wars do not make the nation wealthier, but they're certainly lucrative for the fascists who run this nation. As we slowly sign away our rights to these fascists, George Orwell's totalitarian setting progressively materializes before our eyes. I'm just kidding! The government would never do this. Crazy liberals! Vote Republican! I hope these boards aren't monitored by big brother.
