October 29, 200618 yr Went to a halloween party last nite a good 300+ people.. Was fucking rocking.. I arrived with no costume. Came home with a frankenstein mask, wings, and some guys scuba mask.. The best costume there last night was in my opinion was a guy called "Turkey" in full diving gear, goggles, oxygen tank, flippers etc.. But for Tuesday night.. Its to DERRY!!! (where i live) Best International Halloween Parties and Events The whole trick or treat, costume, fun time thing is primarily a Western tradition. Homesick American student travelers *can* find a place to don masks and carve pumpkins internationally, though. Lay aside your books and quills and gather 'round, ghosts and goblins, and ye shall hear where the finest Halloween festivities are happening. Let's visit the US (Salem and New Orleans!), Bangkok, Limoges (France) and Derry (Ireland) to find the best Halloween party for traveling students around. Halloween in Ireland - Birthplace of US Traditions http://studenttravel.about.com/od/coolevents/ss/halloween_5.htm Halloween in Ireland? Of course. Halloween trick or treating (though I think it might have been known simply as throwing cabbages at doors) originated in Ireland, as did the carving of jack o'lanterns - turnips were used until the Irish begain emigrating to the US where pumpkins were more plentiful. Your question: do they party in Ireland on Halloween? You bet. One of the biggest Irish Halloween shindigs is in Derry (Londonderry) - music, fireworks, parades - bring on the Banks of the Foyle Hallowe'en Carnival! This cool walled city has plenty to offer besides Irish Halloween traditions and hearty ale - though there is a lot behind the old saying (yeah, that one - eat, drink and be merry). Basically, get really fucking pissed in the city with thousands of people/
