Posted February 25, 200421 yr I have an ATI Radeon 9600, 2.2 GHZ comp (AMD) and a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum (I'm including it for a reason). 2 months ago I receieved a SAMSUNG SyncMaster 191 T Plus LCD screen that can use the digital plug on the back of my Radeon. Everything was fine until I plugged it into the digital cord. First my Sound Blaster card because faulty in every game that uses EAX (basically I hear nothing I play CS, Unreal, Warcraft (if set on EAX)) Now I'm getting a constant 30 FPS on counter-strike. I have no clue why...I'm almost sure it has nothing to do with the monitor. I started using the Analog plug because if I plug into digital..my screen goes blank when windows loaded....any ideas? Thanks P.S. Making a school movie based on World War II. I need anyone I can get that can join my server later next week (Day of Defeat). February 25, 200421 yr Author Well it's weird. If I stare at a wall, I get 100 FPS. If I look into a big open area (under bridge de_dust) fps sinks down to 40? wtf? Also, I realized I cannot set my AGP to x8 anymore....sigh. this is a mess

Unless when I'm in a larger area the LCD displays the stuff behind the walls and isn't fast enough to refresh everything going at once because Analog is too slow....hm....wait that kinda makes sense since wall hack shows what's behind stuff O.o Still, why's the digital part not working >=(

Any game you play, with any monitor or video card, u will get very high FPS when u stare at a wall, why? Cuz nothing is being displayed, nothing is moving, this is true with any game. Halo I can get 100FPS staring at a wall, but minute i start moving around it lowers quite a bit. Low refresh rate = low FPS. What is the max refresh rate of this LCD? Also the 8x AGP I don't see how it would change, as AGP is a feature of the motherboard and the monitor has nothing to do with it. AGP speed determines how fast the graphix card communicates with your processor, not with the monitor. Though there is no performance difference between 4x and 8x agp anyways.

February 25, 200421 yr Author I can't even use AGP, it's turned off. And everytime i change it, it gets resetted (AGP is ENABLED in my bios settings). Man, I'm gonna go back to my old geforce 4 at this rate.

February 25, 200421 yr i fucked up when i bought my computer, i got a lcd monitor and a montherboard that only has pci cards, no agp. i can't upgrade video card, i'm stuck with 64 bit. never knew lcd's weren't good for games, but what other choice do I have? i don't like those big huge monitors.

And then when I see smoke, friggin FPS goes to 20.
