well i am a newbie dj, started beatmatching trance music at friend's place with vinyl turntables

until 4 months ago i saved up enough money and got myself CDJs

PIONEER cdj-1000mk2 + PIONEER djm-909

the reason i chose cdj are because of easy access to music and pefer digital music over vinyls :gaykeke:

so...

what's your setup? (vinyl/cd/misc)

what is your style of music?

Got any gigs so far?

Vinlys all the way.

British Drum 'n Bass/Jungle Hip-Hop/Rap Scratch

Gigs = friends parties. (im just in it for the fun)

I play around with VDJ software.

Want to get the rubber tables, not the time stamped vinyl

What trance do you listen to?

I listen to AVB, Tiesto, Gabriel Dresden and anything played on Di.fm or PureDJ.com

Hurts to hear another one feel into the Pioneer loop... Either way....

You did a little more then save a little cash unless you got that shit stolen twice... How much you drop on it all?

2200$?

Anyways, I spin Dancehall reggae, hip hop, rnb, techno, jungle and whateveer else they will pay me for..

I just came second in Northern Ontario DMC championship last weekend.

My setup =

2X Stanton c.314 cdplayers and a Vestax PMC-05ProSL VCA

At the clubs here and mostly any other you will go to the setup is

2x Pioneers cdj 1000 mk2's

2x tech-12's

and a pioneer Pioneer DJM-800

Personally I despise the CDJ's, they're over priced, not very resistant to damage, and the sensor touch is terrible feature.

The best cd player you can buy is a Denon DN-5000, there will never be a table that can touch that.... The Stanton's come close, but due to the direct drive table table and high torque, the scratching is unebelievable.

I just prefer the stantons because im a dancehall dj by nature and the 4 realtime cuepoints is one of the sexiest features ive ever seen in my life.

If you really wanna run tho, assuming you already have a laptop,

Sell your 2 cdjs, buy 2 techs or vestax tables, and go buy serato.

Around the same coin, serato > life.

i dont know much about the djing but can i use my dvd play for one? i saw pioneer in his list and thats the same brand as me dvd player. i dont wanna ruin it though

i haave lots of software for making music or dj prog... i have a numark hdx.. those are good for me.. scratches music using music u can upload to a hard drive that comes with it... also can scratch your cds...

i used to have a technics... forgot the brand ill check it later... but it got old so yeh... i bought numark..

any questions about making music or scratching pm me... ill show u some stuff i know

Nice setup P-Dot !

Im running two Stanton T.60's with a Numark DXM 06

My friend has some Technics that cost him bout twice my Stanton decks, and i still prefer mine. I love Stanton. Would have tried a mixer from them aswell but I got my Numark one off a mate for real cheap.

i'll post more if you want, but first i need a fast site to upload my l337 mp3s on

so i can spread my shitty trance mix sets all over web without my name in it hahaha :madkeke:

Cd mixing is for ***0ts.

2xVestax PDX-2300MKllpro , Vestax mixer, concrde needles, technics headfones = Pr0 set up

Been mixing Drum and Bass for bout 5 yrs.

:facesj:

Hardstyle FTW

Italian hardstyle = good

Dutch hardstyle = good

German Harstyle = Suxx0r, except for the dj's Max B. Grant and Blutonium Boy.

I run two t.60's from stanton to get me started. I use a denon dnx-100 for my mixer because I have to move my shit alot and it fits in one of my crates. Im working on getting serato asap, I mainly do parties for birthdays and whatever people really wanna pay for. We do mixing on the computer too if were not getting that much $$ and well just do one of our pre mixed selections.

Do any of you guys do your own live sound?

We run a cerwin vega folded horn and for our mains we use 2 cabs with 2 12's w/ horn. Its our mobile set up, serves us well.

very nice :boink: i wish i had some 1200's...

i was relle into it and was about to get some stanton 400's i think they cool as shit...

Anyone who says cdjs suck, will never play in club... Vinyl is only used these days for battling, and basement djs...

If you wanna go out to clubs, you can't be carrying 10 crates of records just so you can mix for 3 hours...

Half the owners around here allow me 1 crate to bring in....

You need some doubles, a scratch record and cds if you ever plan to make money and work the club scene....

Otherwise your stuck doing birthday parties and basements if you wanna stay "true" to vinyl.

The only need for vinyl is turntablism, battling.

Serato is your only choice if you wanna deal with clubs and stick with vinyl.
