I'm going to show you the trick to making a really nice picture in paint all on your own using the standard tools and a setting or two with pics :D

 

 

Here we go

 

First, sketch out what you want to draw, make sure not to put in too much detail on the first sketch or it will definately not work well in the next steps

I drew gordon decapitating the halo guy kinda:

The next step is to go to Image>Invert Colors or hit Ctrl+I

You should have something similar to this:

Then you will repeat step 2 by going to Image>Invert Colors and then you should have the finished product like this:
