Posted December 13, 200618 yr I'm currently using an old asus x800xt and I plan to upgrade to a 512mb card that supports shader 3.0. Now I don't really like cheap light versions (like x1600 and shit like that) and I don't know much about nvidia cards. But since I won't be playing on extreme resolutions (1600x1200 max) getting an ATI card might be pointless. I've seen benchmarks with the GeForce 7950 GX2 that looked very nice (compared to a x1950 xtx) and I've heard about the 8800 gts not being too shabby either. So which card should I choose? I don't want to spend much more than 500 USD or 400 EUR.
December 13, 200618 yr So you wanna spend more than 500 usd? Then you buy the best card there is:8800GTX. However its quite long so you have to check if it will fit on your mobo/chassi. Its also designed to run on extreme resolutions so it might not fit your needs.
December 13, 200618 yr Wait and see what happens with dx10. Then get a card. Prices drop at that point. Waste to buy one right away.
December 13, 200618 yr Wait and see what happens with dx10. Then get a card. Prices drop at that point. Waste to buy one right away. Yeah jsut wait for dx10. the 8800GTS is a good buy though, if you don't want extreme specs/ don't want to shell out 500$.
December 14, 200618 yr no dude dont but the 8800 get dual 7500gts or whatever, my stepdad had them and i got to use them for awhile when he fried his motherboard if you think about it its a better deal
December 14, 200618 yr Author i dont want to spend much more than 500, duh. my bad. the 8800 gts is about 450 € or 585 USD and Im really not sure if its worth all the money. The x1950xtx is almost 130 USD less.

December 14, 200618 yr the 8800's will go from $500 to $300 to $250 right before your eyes. wait for that.
December 14, 200618 yr PCI is the only way to go in my opinion. older technology is always more stable.
December 15, 200618 yr ATI X1900XT, It's like 200 bucks on ebay.com. Got mine for 220 pound from .co.uk runs everything super sexy. It will last you for atleast like 10 years if you don't plan on running games at stupidly high rez. Runs CSS and HL2 at 2048X1600, max everything with 6X AA. 70FPS. come to dadda :gaysex2: Ran like 200fps or something stupid at low rez on every single game :nigga: I'm not sure about the 8800GTS, i know the GTX beats the shit out of the 1900XT, but it's pointless unless you're gunna be playing games are really high rez Yum http://img327.imageshack.us/img327/5858/csqb4.th.jpg Edit: The x1950xtx is almost 130 USD less. Get that then, the XTX is overpriced over here IMO for like 50mhz extra, but its still a kick ass card
