I've saved for years and pieced the equipment together. Please get a life and learn that if you apply yourself and get a REAL job, it's not hard to be somewhat successful. It's pretty sad to see how jealous you are of someone as normal as me. Lawl. I do think you've been raged, sir.

 

If you knew anything about A/V equipment pricing, you'd realize 3 things.

 

#1. Piecing together equipment for years is worthless, as new models come out, new components follow suit, making all your old items obsolete.

#2. If you took it seriously as you claim, 30,000 is actually NOT VERY MUCH to invest in a professional A/V hobby, and if you collect the items over the years you have 30,000 dollars of useless crap (Beta VCRs, Tape Decks, Mini Disc)

#3. NORMAL PEOPLE spend around 300 on a 7.1, 400 on 250watt powered sub, maybe 2000 on speakers (6) and perhaps 200 on wiring (Optical)

 

That's no where near 30,000, so if you think you're normal, you need to get a clue freak.

The speakers are actually a generation behind what's "state of the art" from VMPS (http://www.vmpsaudio.com). They were phased out a couple years ago, but hold their value pretty well.

 

- Main Speakers are VMPS SuperTower/R SE's. About $4000 new.

- Side Surrounds are VMPS "Dipole SE's". About $1500 new.

- Rear Surrounds are VMPS QS626 SE's, about $1500/pr new.

- Center is VMPS QS6216 SE, about $750 new.

- Sub is VMPS "Larger Sub" with megawoofers, about $1500 new.

- Amps are what I've mostly pieced together over time. They are vintage, and do not lose value so much as they were already "old" when I got them.

- Main amp is an NAD 208 with MOSFET power supply - About $1500 used at the time

- Center amp is an NAD 2700 with rack ears. Very rare and tons of headroom. Has like 5.7dB of dynamic headroom. $1200 when I got it

- Side surround amp is an NAD 2700 with rack ears. $1200 when I got it.

- Rear surround is an NAD 2700 with rack ears. $1200 when I got it.

- Sub amp is a QSC PLX3400. That's right... 3400 watts bridged mono on the sub's 2 drivers. $~2000

- Projector is a Sony 11HT... this is what's sort of "out of date" after 4 or 5 years now. Was badass at the time but doesn't have much contrast ratio. It projects onto a special accoustically transparent 120" silver screen. Screen and projector new were about $4500

- Surround processor isn't a gay little toy like you said "most people" get. It's a Lexicon MC-1 (again, sort of outdated now, but amazing abilities compared to your gay suggestion). Was about $3000 at the time.

- Rackmount HTPC, about $2500 worth of stuff new.

- True sine wave Uninterruptible Power Supply, about $1000

- Various rackmount power filters and staging power supply, about $1500

- Video switching device with super high bandwidth that was the only one at the time that would pass true HD bandwidths - $900 new.

- Racks for equipment - $1000

- Lutron Grafik Eye light controller - $750

- DVD players, S-VHS VCRs, and different satellite tuners that have come and gone we'll just round down to $0 to make this easy, because I'm already at $30,000, ******.

 

I'm not even going to add the actual construction of the home theater room, which was a DIY job, or furniture. I used stagger-studded walls so the inside wall doesn't transmit sound to the outside, and hung a ceiling using notched 2x10's so the ceiling isn't connected to the floor of the house above. Double drywalled inside and out with 1 layer of 1/2" and 1 layer of 5/8", glued together. Also 8 suede covered home theater recliners which were about $750 each when purchased together on sale.

 

I'll take some pics and post them tonight for proof if you truly don't believe me.

 

Oh yeah, I'll also take some pics of my office audio rig. You might like it too It's fairly simple:

 

- VMPS 626R with all options, including TRT caps in crossover,about $4000 new.

- Odyssey Audio Tempest preamp, about $1200 new

- Gronneberg speaker cable, ~$500

- Modified Music Hall CD-25 with hand-soldered board and special diodes, $1500.

Please show any place where I ever "bragged" about anything. I was ranting about some jewish fgt meth heads that broke into my house. Only after some discussion with other posters did I mention that part of my concern was for my audio/video (since some of you don't even know what "A/V" stands for) equipment. I did not mention it again. Hardly bragging.
