Hey, when I play Counter-Strike 1.6 or Source, while I am playing the game can get laggy when I put Voice Annoys on. Is there a certain type of setting/configuration I should apply to make it less laggy?

Step 1: Record in-game using "record (demoname)" in console. Type "stop" when finished or just leave the server.

Step 2: Play the demo using "playdemo (demoname)" in-game in the console.

Step 3: With the demo playing, record it using FRAPS. That way you won't have to worry about lag because it isn't you playing, it's the demo.

One time I did this, it would still get choppy and freeze at points like lag would but it wouldn't be lag in this situation. I'm sure it would do with the FPS, anyway to fix this up so Frap can control the CS Source FPS?
its probably your computer's fault, from the sound of things your video card cant handle fraps and cs at the same time. Either turn down the graphics in game or spring for a new video card, its probably worth it in your case

If you lag while recording footage from a demo using Fraps there's nothing you can do.

You should try Game Cam instead of Fraps.

Lower the screen resolution and make sure fraps is recording in Half size mode and not full size. That should decrease the FPS loss when using fraps

Thanks everyone for suggestions. I tried Half-Size with 60 FPS and it's going a bit better now. Thanks for the other suggestions though Game Cam was alright but quality meh lol.

best way to reduce FPS drops etc:

step 1: if you have a 2nd hard drive, record to it.

step 2: RAM, its a welcom piece of hardware that will make things run alot smoother and faster

step 3: lower your graphics settings ingame, it can be the diffrence (on my old card) between 10-20 fps to 40-60 fps (while recording)

step 4: record using console when you need to capture some good footage of cheating, since when your annoying people quality of your play shouldnt matter.

step 5: tweek your graphics settings

step 6: Dont use cheats! esp bright models wallhacks etc can reduce your fps alot, if your movie isnt a cheating one, then whats the point in even having them on?

step 7: cool your hardware, got good fans? well wtf good is that if your room is hot too? open some windows if your problems that big, but i doubt it is, altho cooling can mean alot better fps if you are losing fps after you have played for a while

For perfect export settings..

Ingame Res: 800x600 (I know it sounds shit, but your only going to be using it when your playing back the demo)

Fraps Settings

Record at 30Fps.

Full-Size

No tick beside "No sync"

Perfect playback quality, all text readable, and looks proper nice.

Then again for youtube your going to be reducing to 320x240.
