Here's the deal, for some unknown reason when I record with fraps, it won't record the ingame sound. At first, I thought maybe it was the program (I know, unlikely) so I redownloaded it off fraps.com and reinstalled it. Alas, no sound in the files I recorded. I tried recording on several different games, same effect. So now I started to suspect my pc's audio components. I assume this because my old pc didn't have the same audio drivers as this computer and it worked perfectly. The one bad thing about fraps is you either have to choose the option (Detect best sound input, or use windows input "that means a microphone or some thing") Since I'm trying to record sound from ingame I obviously opt for "detect best sound input" When I do this, it displays that it has chosen "Realtek HD Digital input". Now that I have the suspected audio driver I tested it by downloading several other video/sound recorders. Same problem as before... Does anyone else have these type of audio components/drivers, have you had the same problem? If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.

I like my recordings with sound!!!:O_o:

Sorry, I'm not taking the time to read all of that.

I've got to solutions though.

1. Select your input as STEREO MIX, or what ever your soundcard calls it.

2. Make sure you have the latest Codec for AVI compression.

You have the same bug as me..

Your using your onboard HD Audio that comes with the latest mobos.. Such as the new LANPARTY ones.

Excellent audio quality, but because it divides input steams and output steams into 2 seperate channels, It confuses FRAPS.. The only option it gives you is Digital Input and Audio Input.. Both of which are shit, because with Audio input all you will hear is your mic and with Digital, you wont hear shit.. And FRAPS just cannot and will not select the Audio Output device.. It means that you will never be able to record from your onboard of "WhatUHear" mode.

Basically your gonna have to get a soundcard, thats the only way.. It sucks i know.

Id suggest Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional Soundcard

There is a way around it, i found that if you go into your "Audio Input" settings, muted your mic, and selected "stereo mix" and turn it up half way, it will record what you hear, but you wont be able to use your mic to talk to people, as they will just hear loud distortion.

Hope that helps.

I had the same problem as you, same card too, got it to work after changing the sound recording options.... but....

Now I have the reverse problem... all the sound is too loud and in the sound options it won't let me change the volume of "stereo mix."

That sounds like an awesome fix, thanks! My mic never worked anyway, so this fix will be perfect. I'll have to try that when I get back home later.
