February 24, 200718 yr shortly after my bs thread i got banned..... but yeah, a few of my friends used cafes accounts recently and about 2-3 days later, all of there accounts. bastard steam!

All who used cafe accounts and didn't refresh their IP afterwards before using their legit account deserves a ban for being stupid. That's like hacking some one without using a proxy or any protection at all. qft . I saw valve ip banning everyone a mile away.

Thats like hacking into the FBI wihtout a proxy and saying "Shit, didnt see that comming" when they knock down your door... You were stealing from them, and if you were not smart enough to release/renew your IP address after using the cafe account then you deserve to have it banned. When you log into one of Steam's cafe accounts they can tell what IP is logging into it, this should have been common knowledge form the beggining(to think otherwise was just ignorance on your part). If you actually believed for one second that valve doesn't have any form of checking who uses their accounts then you deserve to have all of your accounts banned. That is just being stupid.... Valve is not a new company people. Hackers are not knew to them. They set up those safegaurds before they ever gave out the very first cafe account. I believe they even TOLD US ABOUT THEIR SAFETY MEASURES ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE. When they first came up with the cafe accounts they discussed this IN PUBLIC to squash concerns of having an account stolen. They told us about the unchangeable email addresses/passwords and the IP logging. If you didn't see this crap comming from the very first news release about cafe accounts, then all I have to say is that you need to just turn off your computer, step away from it, and never turn it on again...

March 6, 200718 yr I think this only is applying to people who have recently used cafe accounts. Because I have used them in the past, although I never had one that lasted longer than like 2 days but I did log into like 10 of them probably during the time when they were extremely popular when everyone and their mother had a handful of em. Then like 4 days later after someone hooked me up with some of the accounts, thats when the vast majority of the cafe accounts stopped working. Although some still managed to hold onto their cafe accounts or get more and I think these are the only people affected by this. "knock on wood" but my legit accounts still work.
