January 25, 200718 yr I work alot of shift work and I find the best way to do it is have a bottle of caffeine pills or energy drinks. Dont try and switch em over on the day before. take about 3 days beforey ou need and just force your self to stay awake for about 4-6 hours longer than you normally would. Just pop a couple caffeine pills. And then the next night do the same thing..4-6 hours. Third night 8-10 hours. etc.
January 25, 200718 yr You fellows have it all wrong! You don't need to keep yourself up longer in order to go to sleep earlier. When you do this and then go to sleep, your body will want to sleep longer anyway, like 10-11 hours instead of the normal 7-8. Instead, take some NyQuil or something similar and go to bed early one night.
January 25, 200718 yr If I need to stay awake through the day following a bad nights sleep, I load up with carbs, eating little and often and stay as active as possible during the day. That way you've got the mental energy and physical energy to give you a chance to see it through to the evening and then hit the sack about 9-10pm. If I can't make it, I just get a good rest for 1/2 hours and then go to sleep around 11pm to compensate for having a kip during the day.
