February 6, 200718 yr To play an HL1 mod OTHER than ESF, you need HL1 installed. Since you've registered your Steam account with an HL2 key, HL1 should be in your list of games, ready to be installed. Install it, run it once, and shove the mod folder into the half-life directory. If you want to play ESF, you can't. Why? You can't. Don't bother asking about ESF.
