February 20, 200718 yr The SAS's training is harder than the US Navy Seals is.. The marines are also throughly trained. Altho, if you look about a bit you will find on the internet that the training methods are very very different, each one teaches different philosophes but in my opionion each force is fucking amazing and the the people who do go through it and become a Navy Seal/SAS have the potential to be the elite of the human race and i respect anyone who does it. As it would change your life forever.

My uncle is still in the marines for the past 6+ yrs and he is the toughest SOB i know, he did make it through every form of training they through at him and he is still in tip top physical and mental condition. And the taining is ment to make you perform perfectly in combat, if your fuck ups can possibly get your platoon mates killed... Ide kick ur ass too if you screwed up. You wouldnt do it again would you...

They go in wanting to become tougher, they come out like bulls on steroids with no social skills and half their brains scrambled. Imagine sitting down to a romantic dinner with your girlfriend, or your family, and a bunch of marines comes in and starts hitting on her in front of you, telling you to fuck off if you try to intervene, trying to pick a fight with you and pressuring her to come out with them even though she's obviously scared shitless and can't stand them. No, it didn't happen to me, it happened to several guys in a bar/restaurant I was at in Japan. I'm not a big guy, or a small guy, but when you get five or six apes full of liquor and looking for a fight or a fuck (if not both) on their only night off, you don't want to be anywhere near them- especially if you have a girl with you. I felt sorry for the poor bastards. Being tough is generally a good thing. Being a tough, loudmouthed asshole is a completely different story. Many bars refuse entry to groups of marines, as they are not considered civilised or human enough. Of course there are some good ones, but the troublemakers are too many and bring down the reputation of the marine core, and America in general.

February 22, 200718 yr I remember once in NZ a girl I worked with invited me out for drinks with her friends, and one marine was in the group. He was the most obnoxious person I have met in years. Sure, he was generous and kept buying rounds for all of us, but we would rather buy him a drink to leave us alone! He was ranting about travelling through Nagasaki and Hiroshima, "where we nuked the fuckers!" and throwing money around the table. Nobody could say a word because he wouldn't shut his mouth. I had a white shirt, so he thought I was staff there, and kept giving me money to buy drinks. I got sick of it so bought a round and told the barman to keep the change, then walked out. the next day I heard from the colleague that he'd attacked the barman for his change, and had been arrested. His visa was going to be cancelled and he couldn't return to NZ, as it was his second violent offence here in 4 weeks. The girl apologised to all her friends and myself for his behaviour. She had thought "oh cool! American marine! That sounds nice!". She wont make that mistake again, hehe!
February 22, 200718 yr That's MP training. They build on to MCMAP for different uses. In the field you might get sprayed with your own pepper spray while attempting to spray some one else. You train hard in safe situations, so that you are effective in combat situations. Marine Corp training is always safety based. If you were injured during it, it may have been because you were not physically ready. Pain is weakness leaving the body.

Yeah, pain should always be payed attention to. That's just one of the many USMC sayings to help people work through the pain of training. This is done because sometimes pain is a necessary part of the training. If you practice getting some OC to the face multiple times in a safe situation, it will not effect you nearly as much when it happens in the field. Because of this you will be much mroe effective if it does happen, and it could save your life. Some one else brought up the gas chamber. That is done for a much different reason. It is done to teach recruits to trust their gear, and also to maintain and use it properly.
