Posted February 28, 200718 yr I thought i would try here since i cant get help from anyone else (including the router company) I recently formatted and after getting everything setup i noticed that my downloads are going no faster than 55kbs. They were going at around 320 give or take. This applies to ALL downloads whether its in Firefox, I.E., Torrents, or even in games when i have to download something. My internet seems a little slower as well but not a huge difference, and the same with my online games. I have a belkin F5D7230-4 router. And at first i thought it may be my Ethernet plug so i bought a new one but no help. One thing i noticed is that the 1394 network adapter isnt working, (no packets etc) and its set to 400mpbs and the one thats actually working is only at 100. Not sure if this is the problem but...anyways thanks for any advice Edit: One other thing i forgot to mention is that the WAN light on my router is orange, sometimes sold and sometimes blinking. Its supposed to be solid green.
March 1, 200718 yr Are you sure your ISP isn't limiting you? If not, I would perform a firmware update. Here... http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5D7230-4&aid=5027&scid=0 First, download the appropriate firmware, then follow these directions... 1. Open a web Browser 2. In the address bar type http://192.168.2.1 3. Click on Firmware Update in the left hand column under Utilities. 4. Enter you password if any and click Submit. 5. Click on Check Firmware, and click Download 6. A window will open that allows you to select the location where you want to save the firmware file. Select a location. 7. When you have selected the location, click “Save”. Once the download is complete, click “Close” Note: You can name the file anything you want, or use the default name. Be sure to download the file in a place where you can locate it. To install the firmware 1. From the Firmware Update page, click Browse a dialogue box will open that allows you to select the location of the firmware update file. 2. Browse to the firmware file you downloaded. Select the file by double-clicking on the file name. 3. The Update Firmware box will now display the location and name of the firmware file you just selected. Click “Update”. 4. You will be asked if you are sure you want to continue. Click “OK” 5. You will see one more message. The message tells you that the Router may not respond to commands for as long as one minute. This is normal. Do not turn off or reboot the Router during this time. Click “OK” 6. A 60-second countdown will appear on the screen. When the countdown reaches zero, the firmware will be complete. The Router home page should appear automatically. If not, type in the Router’s address (default = 192.168.2.1) into the address bar or your browser. The Firmware update is complete.
March 1, 200718 yr Author They never needed to be to DL with Firefox or anything. As with the Firmware update, my router must be the F5D7231-4 one because that other one looks nothing like it. Thanks for the tips but none of the updates worked they were all failures.
