Hi, I recently was given an old HP Pavilion and I have had it for about a week now.

There were no issues with it until today when I tried opening My Documents or My Computer. Basically, the error that appears is above and I don't know what do to. I cannot access any of my documents but all of my programs work. I do not have a virus scanner currently. Any suggestions?:thinker: :thinker:

You use Firefox and WinAmp? No wonder your computer is messing up. Try uninstalling them and see if the problems persists.

Search for avast or AVG for antivirus protection.

as for your problem, why's visual studio crap coming up for this? Try getting rid of any visual studio stuff and try again.

yeah i have no idea why C++ stuff is appearing.

i have no software by visual studio that is why i think it could be a virus.

AVG and Spybot S&D would be the best options.

I use a registered version of spyware doctor. It works great but takes up a lot of RAM. If your PC is good enough then feel free to use it.

This isnt the best place to post your help topics

Boot in safe mode first, then do the virus scan, then reboot back into safe mode again. Once you've done that you can boot back into normal mode.

I do this, and it seems to work fine when I get viruses

Now that I think about it, you could probably just delete explorer.exe. I don't think it's used for anything anyway. It's one of those things like Dr. Watson.
