September 17, 200321 yr Ok, this thread has lost all resemblance to intelligent conversation...lol BTW..for the record...I smoked pot pretty much daily from 8th grade on, was in AP classes (still called "gifted classes" back then) in public school, and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.87, scored 783 in math and 772 in English on the SAT WHILE STONED.... The only issue I found is being a waistoid made me WANT to do things just the opposite of what people were pushing me towards, so I joined the Army, ignored the fact that I damned near topped out the ASVAB, and went infantry deliberately, and am just now going back to school, finally having realized that you need a sheepskin to actually GET anywhere in the world today without working 12 and 14 hour days on commission. The point of all this is not bragging, it's simply pointing out that drugs don't nessicarily ruin someone's life, or make someone stupid...it's the person DOING the drugs, and the choices they make, that make the difference.

I don't give a fuck what you think. I've been in the AP program for the past 6 years. And by the way, that's Canadian public school too. Your grade 12 is my AP grade 9, and I shit you not.

I'm not..."AP" these days, at least locally, is good enough that 15 year old kids in AP program qualify to go to colleges like University of Washington or Western Washington University if they are in ALL AP classes, and have taken their SATs and passed with high enough scores to make it into the schools. What this means is for a "sophomore" in H.S. AP classes to get into "head start" and attend university, they have to do so well on SATs that they require absolutely NO "bonehead" classes...and most of the ones I've been in contact with arrive at school with anywhere from 15 to 30 credits already "appended" to their transcripts as credit from the AP classes they've attended... Translation...a "full" AP honors student in Washington State (3rd highest academic standard in the nation, for public schools) comes in with MAYBE 3 years of "normal" attendance needed to acheive a mechanical enginering B.S. degree....which is a degree that is SUPPOSED to take five years to aquire if you came in as an "average" student from any "general" public school in the nation. We have a kid here who's going to turn 18 two months after being awarded his B.S. in CS from WWU...a degree I've been attending the same school for for the past two years, and I came in with an A.S. from DeVry in elec tech, an A.S. from ITT in CIS, and random classes from multiple community colleges over the years (I'm one of those assholes you occasionally meet who would be a "professional student", if I could manage to make enough money AND maintain grades at the same time, as is, I work a job for a couple years, put money in the bank, and spend a semester or two "on sabbatical" attending classes, usually....just banked enough to go back full time after a degree during the last job [car sales]) Seems to me any public school program that sets a kid up to start college at 15 at an advanced placement compared to 18 year olds...including those from magnate schools and private schools (WWU is the hardest "state school" in the nation to get into), and has them so prepared that they get a "five year" B.S. in three tops whatever program you are claiming pwns it.

September 18, 200321 yr I only went to class on test days in highschool and always scored 80+ but still failed most of my classes because i didnt go on any other days and neber cracked open a book to do homework, ebentually they told me i was gonna get kicked out so i sabed some face and dropped out instead. three years later im in college(not a good one but still) and in another three years i'll be working at my professors recording studio making more money than most of the kids in my ap classes back in j.r. high which i was removed from when i got suspended for fighting (as if fighting had anything to do with my academic standing ). grades only measure how well you can remember things you read from a text book. note* im not nearly as bitter as i sound, the public education system might be horrible and might have fucked me over a few times but at least it was good place to meet chicks :smilewink
