Posted May 2, 200717 yr So I'm at the store today picking up some crap and I'm walking buy the greeting card section. I suddenly remember that mothersday is in like 2 weeks and my wife's birthday is coming up also. Plus we have a kid now, so gotta get mothersday card for wife and grandmother card for kids grandparents, shit never ends. So I figured, wow I remembered, I will be proactive this year and buy cards now, rather then forget, my wife will be so proud. So I start looking at the cards and they are crap like always, but women like them so what can you do. Then I notice the price. The damn things now cost between $2.50 - $5.00. WTF??? When did stupid cards get so damn expensive? Seems to me the last time I bought a damn card it was like 99 cents. It's just a damn piece of paper with a few drawings on it and some words. This is hardly worth 2 - 5 dollars. You can almost buy a crappy gift for that price. So I ended up buying some crayons for like .59 cents and some paper. /end of pointless gripe
May 2, 200717 yr OldManPeterson;471119'] So I ended up buying some crayons for like .59 cents and some paper. I always did the same thing. Cards are too damned expensive, and women always like handmade things better anyways. Best thing I ever did was when I was still doing the GameWorld sprite comic. I snuck a happy mothersday episode into it and had her read them all. She thought she was just reading something I made and when she got to the mothersday thing she started crying, it was epic. Cards FTL.
May 2, 200717 yr Damn cards are cheap there.. Over here they really take the piss. In USD it would around $4-12$ for a decent card.. Well one worth giving. Luckily I only have 1 person I would call a mother. On another note Its just turned to the 3rd of May here in ireland.. i.e MY BIRTHDAY!
May 2, 200717 yr I rarely actually buy cards, I always use an old outdated version of Microsoft Greetings.
May 2, 200717 yr My uncle was a cheap ass mother fucker, He used to print up cards on his cpu using mspaint. Dont be like him.
May 3, 200717 yr you sound like a jew to me, youd rather spend less money on cards and work to make some shitty crayon drawing, than pick a card and think "hey thats something i would say!" and mail it to the fucker.
May 3, 200717 yr Myself i say fuck it. . . that shit takes to much time just say when they ask why you forgot. . say your boss was chewing you out myself im gonna use. . my Army excuse!!!!!!
May 3, 200717 yr I think OMP has the right idea. They're pushing the limits, putting the prices up every year. It used to be a buck for a card just a few years ago, now it's about $4 for a half decent one, more for a good one. wtf? I assume the crayons and paper are for your kid to draw their own card for mother/grandmother. Another good and budget idea is to use double sided tape to stick a photograph (or photocopy of one) onto a piece of card (black is good). Use some metallic pens (gold or silver) to draw a border, and write the inside yourself. Costs about the same as a normal card from a store, but stick the leftovers in a shoe box, use them for other occasions. People buy me store cards. I open them, look for cash, read it quickly, then throw them out in a week or so. But some people actually take 20 minutes to make one with me in mind, and those ones I keep. Personalised and hand-made cards hold sentimental value- mothers love that.
May 3, 200717 yr If your ol' lady would give you crap for not getting her a card for a fake holiday, then, well.... JUST THEN! You did all the work makin' the baybeh! Let her buy YOU some cards.
May 3, 200717 yr She did all the work making the baby that was you, and everything after that until you left home. A card and a small gift a few times a year isn't much to ask for.
May 3, 200717 yr Geesus;471199']you sound like a jew to me' date=' youd rather spend less money on cards and work to make some shitty crayon drawing, than pick a card and think "hey thats something i would say!" and mail it to the fucker.[/quote'] lol Jim Gaffigan ftw
May 3, 200717 yr IF you go to cvs they usualy have a section called "shoebox" all the cards are 99cents and they are made by hallmark.
May 3, 200717 yr i actually have a shitty parttime job working in a novelty store/card shop. by far the easiest job ive ever had, everyday i get to hear people bitch about why "this card is only $1.95 while that one is $3.49"
May 4, 200717 yr OldManPeterson;471119'] So I ended up buying some crayons for like .59 cents and some paper. /end of pointless gripe "make your own card if you want it so bad"
May 4, 200717 yr Yeah cards are way too expensive. I noticed the same thing when I had to buy one for a birthday a couple months ago. Shits weak. Thats why you go find the cheap as shit cards for like .99 because its the thought that counts amirite? :gaysex2:
