Posted June 4, 200717 yr So whats your opinion on assisted suicide. Is it right or wrong? I think its a persons right to do what they want to their own body as long as no-one else gets harmed in the process. If killing yourself because you have a painful and fatal disease is a crime then we should arrest emo kids for aggravated assault when they cut themselves. Give us your views.

Its called "assisted" because he assists you in the actual death, not the decision whether or not you should kill yourself. (not sure if you were being serious or whatever) He was convicted of 1st degree murder of 1 person out of about 140 that he had helped kill. He didnt convince any of them to do it, but the one guy he got caught helping and put in jail for had Lou Gehrigs disease, and even though i know nothing about that disease it cant be pleasant and im sure it will kill you in the long run but with more pain involved than Kevorkians machine. And i remember seeing a video of him (probably the guy he got convicted for) asking him if he was sure and letting the man say goodbye to his family, then Kevorkian handed him a remote control sort of and the guy pushed the button and killed himslef really. Kevorkian never killed anybody, he just gave disabled people the means to do it themselves.
June 5, 200717 yr I agree with assisted suicide, some terminal diseases just make it so that you are guaranteed to die anyways, why not just speed up the process and not suffer for a long time.
June 5, 200717 yr kevorkian is way before his time, he never should have been jailed... but you have to know where to draw the line when it comes to suicide. just because someone wants to put a bullet through their heads doesnt mean you should always give them that decision to make (they may not be able to make that decision for themselves depending on the situation)... when it comes to terminal and painful illness, though, it leaves some grey area which should be open for discussion why not just smoke a pound of hash a day until you die instead of killing yourself anyways
