I don't know how you can rank the remake above the original Night of the Living Dead, but it's all opinion I guess. Also Zombi 2 is awesome and so is Land of the Dead and Return of the Living Dead. Some good choices there. sLaYeR-eS-Me also Army of Darkness is such a brilliant film. And no, 28 days or weeks later isn't a zombie film.

I also despise all the colourised versions of the Night of the Living Dead because I think the black and white adds to the atmosphere.

i agree that the B&W adds great vibe but barbra was too eratic and helpless for my taste's in the original. i like a strong main character that people can somewhat relate too. the reason people love zombie movies is the empowerment you get from them. everyone thinks they can survive because zombies are slow, weak and dumb. and i think the main character should refelct that. f.y.i im writing a zombie t.v. show im hoping to sell to HBO. im very big on zombie culture and in see it blowing up in the end of this year and into the next so hopefully we'll have some more movies to add to that list soon.

edit: like the newsig, heh

Really cool about you writing a TV show. Yeah I think it is personal opinion with the main characters being strong or helpless, although it changes from film to film for me I loved the way the whole cast of The Descent were women, but very strong women it added a whole new different vibe to the movie I hadn't previosuly seen. But at the same time I think a helpless woman can make a film aswell I hate to bring in such an old film, but it is a classic, Creature From The Black Lagoon without the helpless woman there and the heroic man to save her I don't think the film would have been the same and situations wouldn't have happened. What I am saying is it depends about how you can back up a weak character in a film. And yes I think the zombie culture will blow up at the end of this year there are a couple of films I know of in the making, and 28 days/weeks later despite not being a zombie film is one of the recent successes of zombie type films and people are latching on to it. Let's hope!

that Last Rites of the Dead looks really good
