What's stupid about it? Thousands of albums on one little notebook, usb turntables, on-the-fly mixing, etx. Sounds like pure shit, yeah.

Anyway it's not very hard to install more ram, just gotta be careful opening it up and closing it. Hinges and stuff can be a bitch to get back in place (or at least on older models, that's been my experience. Make sure you have the empty slots though, and it's not 4x512, although it'd be very odd for them to do that.

My gripe with that model is that a Centrino processor is a bit shit, today you'll probably want a C2D in there, and not a Core Duo. They're the best price:performance right now.

Might want to also make sure that program will run nicely on that display setup. Intel's integrated graphics are utter shit for anything beyond web browsing, and if that program has all sorts of fancy effects in its GUI, you might have some hiccups here and there. The screen isn't too high-resolution, either. Shouldn't be a problem, but again, make sure the program you use will fit nicely on 1280x800 or whatever it is. My laptop is 1280x800, and it feels cramped sometimes because I'm used to 1280x1024 or 1600x1200 on my desktop's CRT.

Long story short, look elsewhere for gaming, but otherwise just test your program on a similar machine first. For gaming, look at some recent HP/Compaq laptops that use integrated nvidia graphics, up to like a like geforce 7600go or whatever. On that model's integrated graphics, 1.6 will probably still be pretty taxing. Intel's integrated shit doesn't even have pixel shader models afaik.

i would say for serato get the mac book pro and then dual boot with windows so you can game. (thats exactly what i do with mine, and i use serato)

Yea, I don't even think I'd want anything < 1280x1024... It's the minimum I ever use..

Theres not much special graphics or shit, but even still, at the jim jones, I seen this guy wrispectsfuckin macbook. I dunno how shitty it was but when the line goes around the table onscreen, its supposed to be smooth, but on his, it would only move for every quater turn.... was so fucked up and that was a mac... so i dontwant anything near that shitty happening.....

yet i know a ton of guys using shitty ass dell laptops and it runs fine... full of spyware and shit... so i dont really know...

i wanna do thedual boot on a macbook, but i still, jsut dont want a mac..... i hate everythign about them....

ill look for a core duo, if not i might have to go with mac >_<

if you go with just the regular mac book the graphics are going to blow ass, there isn't a graphics card in there just integrated gayness. the mac book pros now come with 2 gigs of ram standard and like 2.33 or 2.16 core 2 duo's. its going to be one fast ass computer that you can still work on etc.

i have had no probs gaming on mine and doing serato stuff. if you end up going with a mac, after a week or so you'll realize how much nicer and smoother it is to be using. thats why so many are switching i guess.

the graphics card in the pros are the x1600 (it might be higher up now though) and run 1.6 at 200 fps at 1400 x 900 and source around 130 - 100 depending.

**edit** i love the cxl vid on youtube, when ever i explain what im using i show them that video

here are the specs for the macbook pro way better than mine right now and for the same price..

* 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

* 1440 x 900 resolution

* 2GB memory

* 120GB hard drive1

* 8x double-layer SuperDrive

* NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with 128MB SDRAM

macbook pro.. macs are the best for music/sound

my sister got a macbook.. and its fucking cool ass hell.. and apple is thinking about changing the thing of bootcamp.. so when u get it, get it right away, they want to make people pay for it.
