I just got my first job working as a steward at Zellers (similar chain to wal-mart but smaller and less gay). My job is to lay out stock for the night shifters, do carry outs and organize stock in the back room. I'm on my feet for 7 hours straight, and only get a 15 min and 30 min break, my feet are fucking killing me. Is this something that comes with being new to being on my feet so long, or should I invest in some REALLY comfy shoes?

BTW - Steel toed shoes are mandatory in the back room

Yah the pain is from being on your feet all day. The pain won't go away but you'll get use to it. Buying comfortable shoes is also a good idea but i'm stuck with steel-toed boots in a factory.

i am on my feet 10 hours a day with at most 3 smoke breaks that last 5 mins each max im a fucking tough guy.

I want sp0rk to be my waiter and toss my salad

if your working 7 hours you should at least get 2 times a 30 minutes break...

or just go to the toilet alot :P

theres no real need for new shoes but hicking socks are amazingly comfortable. you can wear them by themselfs or over normal socks.

LMFAO 7 hour shift and 40 minutes of break?? thats more than usual bro

i work as a waiter work 10 hr shifts and get two 5-10 minute breaks, but seriously be a waiter at a popular place instead of fuckin zellers, i make crazy tips [100-300] a night.

ps- yeah youll get used to it, your back probably hurts too, but in a month or so it'll be easy

I fucking love the type of job you described capslock. Anything beats fuckin service departments and having to talk to people, especially when someone isn't satisfied. Retail jobs in general are the shittiest jobs in the developed world.

rifk, a waiter for 10 hours with only 25 mins worth of brakes and getting overtime? evading fgt//?

lol...welcome to my world... a full day standing on ladders... its worse than just standing all day cuz of the tiny surface area... imagine standing on a bar all day, but the bar is too small to put your whole foot on...so only the middle of your foot is touching the bar... thats exactly what i have been doing. :tear:

well atleast i get payed for it... so how can i complain?

Youre a pussy, waittil you start working 12 hour days in a factory with your no education ass. Zellers is for lazy stoners.

I work in Invista/DuPont with a contracting firm doing mechanical installation of machines and Engineering projects. ATM im working 9hrs a day. 7am - 4.30pm with 20 mins lunch at 1pm and 10mins break at 10am. Been doing that for 3summers now. Being in construction requires steel toe boots and PPE.. Basically get youself a good pair of boots and wear them in until you cant feel it anymore.
