a player with &&&&& in their name will not have & in their name when using voice comm, so he can spam with the name of someone else:

 

victim name: matt

hacker name &m&a&t&t

 

the hacker spamms the mic, and on the voice comm it says matt instead of &m&a&t&t&, so players target matt to voteban, instead of &m&a&t&t&, also the name &m&a&t&t& looks like shit so ppl dont suspect him of doing the hacking

Works like a charm actually. I've been using this to frame innocents for quite a while now. It's especially useful in servers with votekicking or votebanning. It's especially funny in servers with n00b admins that think you're "hacking" them. Correct me if I'm wrong but in addition to using "&" between characters, you can also use "%" as a substitute for space. When using these characters it tends to make your name small when you press tab, so people don't really notice for a while if you're patient with it. Don't forget to add " to the end of your name in the friends list so they can't see you in the playerlist though...

So, with the formatting on the Microphone Label, you can do a few cool things. It works like this:

- When you use a group of &'s together in your name, the number of them is divided by two on the mic. label, and the amount, (say if the game was dividing down an odd number by half) would round down to the lower whole number of &'s rather than the higher option. This is hard to explain, so I'll just use some examples, where brackets = [ Mic. Label Name ]:

- name "&" (1) = [ ]

- name "&&" (2) = [ & ]

- name "&&&" (3) = [ & ]

- name "&&&&" (4) = [ && ]

- name "&&&&&" (5) = [ && ]

- name "&&&&&&" (6) = [ &&& ]

- name "&&&&&&&" (7) = [ &&& ]

- name "&&&&&&&&" (8) = [ &&&& ]

etc., and you begin to see the pattern here.

 

Put simply, what this means is that one "&" by itself is going to show up as... nothing! It's like a null character, not even a space. This dividing by half and showing up as actual &'s on the mic. label occurs only when the &'s are right next to each other. When seperated by spaces or other letters/characters, the are null characters, as mentioned above.

 

So, armed with this knowledge, you can do things in the above examples (pictures/code) like having a nameless large microphone sign or a small one.

 

This also lets you "steal" people's names, and you could potentially frame them for voice-spamming... if not, at least you evade punishment if the admin isn't smart enough to look at the jumble of letters and &'s on the scoreboard that is your name and not skip over it.

Example:

// If you wanted to copy the name "n00bz0r"
name "n&0&0&b&z&0&r"

and it would appear exactly identical on the Mic. Label. In a crowded server, people might not even be able to figure it out because they would just glance at the scoreboard and ignore your name because it appears to be gibberish. Just make sure you don't put &'s around the name (small-name exploit) as people could easily spot this because it's sticking out and might look suspicous or draw attention to you. :wink:

 

Edit: By the way, this never occured to me because I'm ... dumb.

You can't be near anyone when you start spamming (or do it when you're dead by killing yourself on a random part of the map where no gameplay takes place) or they'll see the orange thing over your head. :?

 

Copying a name is best.
