I bought a Compaq about 4 years ago when I didn't know shit about putting one together. Now that I'm in college studying software engineering I decided to learn about the hardware side as well. I've started modding and fixing hardware aspects and then I decided to give my own rig some treatment.

Turns out Compaq doesnt want you messing with their shit...

I couldn't put the motherboard in my new Xoxide case given the fact that the CPU fan is set up in a weird way so it only works on the stock case. I can't put a new fan in there. It was a bitch moving it in the first place. The screw holes on the mobo are placed in a few weird places. Lastly, the stock power supply is a bitch on the case because it turns out they only wanted you to use their PSUs.

Either way... I did manage to get everything back in fine, I nigger rigged my new PSU in the stock shit case, and I got all the extra parts in fine.

The moral and purpose of this little anecdote is simple. Don't buy computers. I've learned from this experience that buying pre-made, cookie cutter bullshit (even Alienware) is for the birds. Buy the parts and build it up yourself. It's not hard to do, it's not hard to learn, and it's cheaper than getting pre-made crap.

Also, Geek Squad are a bunch of rip-off artists... Fuck them. Do it yourself.

I know this seems like a "no shit" type of thing, but for any hardware n00b out there, this is for you.

I had a Compaq labtop. The charging port in the labtop fucked up.

I threw the computer in the garbage =\

I've never been a big fan of laptops, but if I ever do end up getting one, it'd probably be for work purposes. I can't imagine using it for games.

I think every computer enthusiast goes through this stage in there life, the "holy crap what was i thinking when i spent 2,000+ on this thing ??!?" I'm glad you had your epiphany.
