wtf, im pissed. got a letter in the mail when i turned 18 that said i had to register for the draft. did anyone else get that too? or only a select few?

The way I hear it, you have to register for the draft just in case it does ever come back. That doesn't mean they are bringing it back.

Things are about the get al ot worse in iraq. Iran and seria or some shit are sending some troops or something.

 

Bush wont do a draft before the election, thats just asking to lose the election. if he gets re elected then you will be going on a trip to iraq.

Could happen though, there are 2 Bills in congress/senate ready to go to bring back the draft. This will mostly depend on if Bush gets relected or not. Bush = 4 more years of wars at the very least.

we should have just went into iraq, killed saddam and his sons and left, like the old days. but nooooo we have to be compassionate....... iraq is a mess, can't we just get up and leave, is that wrong? what does kerry want to do? if he hasn't changed his view already? when we hand the govt over on june 30th, will most military personel leave?

If you apply for financial aid for college you have to register for the draft. All male US citizens get that supposedly.

financial aid or no, it doesnt matter. All men in the US 18 or older have to register for the draft.

i turn 19 this month and i still have yet to receive that draft thingy

If you are going to college you can get an exemption . 18 and 19 year olds arent usually drafted anyways, the first to go are 20-25 year olds. So basically in a couple of years when shit really starts to hit the fan in the middle east, most of us will be the ones to go.

 

I doubt anybody wants to die in war, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Im sure as hell not being a pussy and running to Canada.

Nearly every state's Department of Motor Vehicles are linked to the SSS , so they know when you are 18 and where to locate you via your Drivers License . They have had the Selective service active registration for over 50 yrs . If they do bring back the Draft , and you are not going to school full time & they start up the lottery , you would be better off joining up , and getting into a nice cushy Non-Combatant Service , like the AIr Farce or Navy ( as long as you don't become a Navy Medic ) better than a ground pounder draftee.

The US has like the most advanced war technology in the world. I think it would be more of a night vision adventure than actually war. People still see war as fighting in the trenches, when really they are using first strike weapons then moving in after most of the damage has been caused by various missiles, then cleaning up the rest losing a few soldiers here and there. One Japanese soldier was discovered in 1972 living in a cave. He'd been living off the land and waiting to die for the emperor. No one told him the war had ended. There have been multiple cases of this.
