September 2, 200717 yr If you completely zero out a hard drive there is no possible way to recover the information. BUT to completely zero out a hard drive takes a LOOOOOONG time. For an 80 gig drive it'd take like 2 days....

September 2, 200717 yr Google 'ultimate boot disk' With that you can create a bootable CD that has shloads of utilities. A couple of the included ones allow you to 'zero' out your HDD. Whatever you are apparently trying to hide, you should just destroy the hdd - smash, burn, whatever. Then you can be completely at ease that no one can ever recover it.
