Posted April 17, 200421 yr I'm wondering, has anybody invested in Super Audio (SACD) or DVD-Audio? I bought a super audio player about two years ago. I don't have that many CD's for it but it sounds really good. Although some of what I'm hearing is undoubtably cause I have a well balanced system. My player is only mid range, it was only $1200. But I heard one at a local dealer's that was Sony's top of the line model costing around $15,000 and it was the best sounding CD player I've ever heard. Even the dealer said he had never heard a better sounding CD player. So from what I've seen, SACD seems to be the better sounding format over DVD-Audio but I know people have had good experiences with both.

I was thinking of this Swiss model that was around $15,000. I should have known Sony doesn't make something that expensive, duh! But anyway, it did sound better than my model.

April 17, 200421 yr why would you pay that much for cd player when you can buy a good stereo system with 7.1 surround sound speakers :rockon:

I don't want to ruin your beautiful excitement about large audio filesizes, but I imagine the quality bottleneck is usually in the amp and/or speaker system.

What's the point of having 7.1 channels if you're not going to have anything to use them with? Duh. Unless all you want to do is just listen to DVD's but I'm more into music myself.

April 17, 200421 yr who cares about super .. wtf ever it is, music is music sound is sound it all fucking sounds the same my speakers cost me 10pound so about 18dollars and there fuckin amazing super sub woofer for a very good price and imo it doesnt matter what u got its not gonna make it sound like a different fucking song its all the same to me so why waste loads of money on something that u can get for 20bucks

There's no way you can compare a tiny set of desktop speakers to monitors or floor standings. If you walked into a recording studio and suggested they remove their expensive speakers for your 18 dollar ones, they'd never sell another CD again cause they wouldn't know how the artists sounds and the entire album would sound like piss. and if you think all a good system requires is "ALOT OF BASS" then you remind me of those dumb niggies in rap videos, driving in their shitty cars, with their shitty sound systems.
April 18, 200421 yr did i say to remove them, NO. im just saying that ive heard alot of speakers that cost over a grand and my ones that cost about $18 sound fairly similar and id rather pay a grand to get a new computer than to hear some music a TINY little better it makes no difference when ur in a game shooting, so id rather be playing a on a amd 64 with 1gb ram and a radeon 9800xt and a very good cheap pair of speakers that produce great sound than have some nice sounding speakers that cost as much as ive just said
April 18, 200421 yr why do u need a good system? I have stolen speakers that are horrible, both spark blugs are blown and my 20 dollar diskman that is 3 years old. my sistem is hot
