Hello, so I have 1 gb memory would adding one more gb give me smoother gaming etc and speeding up my computer? and what are the advantages of more RAM. thx

maybe a better graphics card with 500MB of memory or so?

no im not made of money

What kind of ram is it?

Ive never done 4 sticks of ram so im not sure if they have to be the same with just 2 sticks as far as dual channel etc.. might go.

If its shitty no-name brand you might be better off just getting a Gig of something else.

Dont take my word for it though.

You want at least 2gb of ram. Don't buy value ram. Get something with lower latency. Pay more, get more. And depending on what you have in the computer right now you might want to throw that shit in the toilet, poop on it, and flush.
eh.. my 2nd computer has the same 512 RAM as this but is much smoother on games. This computer gets laggy with hacks and HLSS and my other wont. So i think its really graphics card and video card. but it is always good to have extra RAM

orly?

Simply put most 32 bit systems use virtual memory where the hd is used to create a flat 4 gb memory model. This is due to the fact that most people do not have 4 gb of ram. RAM is more quick to access than using virtual memory.
that lower latency is all marketing hype. It was discovered you can push more over clock with low latency but the difference is marginal and only good for e-penis. Value ram is cheap and does the job well, I've been using it for years.

WITH LINUKS U CAN ADJUST UR SWAP FILE SIZE LOL

I will say it again, lower latency, is better.

More ram, is better.

Video card is stilla factor, but not as much as CPU + Ram

If you're running games with lots of data, you should have more RAM. Mostly you don't cross the 1 GB, but it wouldn't be bad with another 1 GB.

If I had your computer, I would be pleased. Just optimize the software, and it will be great. What's your FPS in steamgames and such with 1280x1024 and maximized grafics?

If you wanna go faster then buy faster RAM or overclock them. :P
