Posted November 6, 200717 yr So as part of working at an approved retail chain, I get an exclusive deal through Intel. I get this neat package. Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail Intel BOXDG33TLM LGA 775 Intel G33 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium DVD - Retail All for $219. So I know this is a killer deal and I think it's time for a new system, my current PC is still single-core and my motherboard cannot even support dual-cores. The only part about this deal that doesn't make me instantly-purchase it is the fact that the motherboard is a micro-ATX and it only has one regular PCI slot, and my wireless adapter would take that up. Oh well, if anything I can always buy another motherboard. The price of the package is still less than just the price of the processor itself. I kind of have to make this decision by tomorrow. I'm going to stick it into my Antec 900 case (I know a micro-ATX motherboard will look retarded in it, but oh well. I'll also have to buy new ram since my current RAM is DDR 400. I was thinking about getting two of these RAM sticks. Kingston 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory - Retail The total would come out to $283 + tax. I don't need a new video card because I'll just use my 7900GT that I currently have in this PC. What do you guys think, should I go for it?
November 6, 200717 yr Author home premium?? thats like buying windows 95 either get ultimate or go linux The mobo the CPU and the OS are in a package, unfortunately I cannot change them around.
November 6, 200717 yr Buy it and just sell the motherboard and/or vista and just take the money you make off of them for Vista Ultimate and a new MB? You'd end up spending a little more but not a whole lot i would think.
November 6, 200717 yr i have not time to read this thread in hopes you purchase a pc with bread your processor speed should be at least 3 giga or mega it doesnt matter to me your computer is not neuronet processing like mine you see
November 8, 200717 yr I just spent about 1k to finally build me a new system. Here is what I got, AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz Socket AM2 Processor COOLER MASTER Centurion 534 RC-534-KKN2-GP Black Aluminum & Mesh bezel / SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case BIOSTAR TF560 A2+ AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 560 MCP ATX AMD Motherboard HIPRO HP-W700WC3 LF ATX12V / EPS12V 700W Power Supply Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory XFX PVT84GUDF3 GeForce 8600GTS 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card I went with a cheaper video card for now simply because when the new 8900 is released I will get it. I had to move up to windows xp professional 64 in order to run the 6gb of ram

I had to move up to windows xp professional 64 in order to run the 6gb of ram fucking idiot got an 8600. the 8800gt came out and it costs less. its also faster than the gtx. what a waste. and the the 8900 series is coming out in Q2 of next year. have fun waiting. EDIT: oh and twolves you dont need a quad core. so far no games support that many cores so its baisically a waste. get an 8800gt. you wont regret it.
November 12, 200717 yr so I am an idiot for saving money..the 8600 was only 159, where the 8800 is like 300-500 depending on which one you get....and I can easily wait for the 8900..not a big deal. the 8600 is working fine for me for now anyways..still ALOT better than the old POS dell I had before.
November 12, 200717 yr I really do not think you can turn that deal down..I mean for the money it is worth it and who cares if anything supports quad core yet, at least you will be ahead of the game for a while...
November 12, 200717 yr I think you should get it!!!! shiz dude the bush-man caus3d 9/11 and now the j00's are taking over z0mg!!!
November 12, 200717 yr Why wait, just go ahead and get it. I wanted to build an Intel system on my last upgrade but i went with AMD again. Is Intel still better? If i upgrade again soon im definitely going to try Intel.
November 13, 200717 yr from what I read they are both equally staying right with each other, just intel is a little more expensive right now. I recently built a system with a AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz Socket AM2 Processor and it is really fast, but I also am building another system I receive the parts thursday and building it with a Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 Processor so I am curious to see how it will operate.
