So I finally get a new pc that I don't have to pay for so I don't really have a budget (but I really want to keep the price as low as possible). But I have never put together a pc by myself before, I just got the tech guy from where I work to put the crap together for me (and he mostly picked the parts).

Anyways I like Intel much better than AMD so I'm going with a Intel motherboard and a Nvidea video card even though I hate Nvidea but ATI seems to suck nowadays. I'm also probobly just going to be installing Windows XP on it so I think 2 gigs of ram is all I need for now.

And thats where I'm stuck, I don't know what power supply or case I should get, and I don't really know what other crap I need to get along with which hard drive I should get which is around 250 - 350 gigs

Here's what I found so far, its the best and cheapest of each thing I could find.

Motherboard:

CPU:

Memory:

GPU:

And should I just use my old CD drive? I don't see any reason to get a new one

id get 2 of those cards and SLI it up so you can have a gig of video memory. then you shouldn't have to upgrade for a few years at least

chubr0ck;530699']That is some cheap memory. 50 bucks for 2 gigs? Never heard of G Skill though so I guess you get what you pay for.

The reviews say it used to be $110 but it lowered over time, and its actually $90 but has a 40 dollar discount

And as for the video cards I would have to get a more expensive motherboard and another video card for that and I really just want a pc that can play crysis and a few other games, I do most of my gaming on my xbox 360 now so im not too worried about the video card

Its better to get two 1 gig or 2 gig ram's.

cheaping out on memory is a bad idea

If you are going to spend that much on the processor, then get quad core. Yes, I realize the dual-cores outperform it as of now, but in the future they won't come close. The link below is to a processor with the same price, but 2 extra cores! yeye

ok the quad core sounds good, I was looking and comparing them both and the duo seems to outperform it but I can see how the quad will do better in the future with optimized programs and such.

As for the memory I don't think I'm cheaping out with this g.skill ram, it costs the same as many other brands it just has a $40 discount and the reviews say its fine. Its also the highest rated desktop memory on the site.

And also what power supply do I need to juice this thing? I don't know how much I need and I don't know what power supply will fit on the motherboard

the moterboard has one pci-e x16 and three pci-e x1 :ugh:

i think if you want to sli you might have a problem with cards that use 16x

the memory is unknown brand to me... :O_o:

I know, I don't want SLi, I mostly just multi task so I just want one decent vid card

I've also never heard of the brand before but they have quite a few products on newegg and their website is passable... I'll look into some other shit though since every post is iffy about their memory
