I have an 80GB video iPod, and i was looking over the 'newer' generation of iPods they've recently brought out and their software differs..

 

when scrolling through artists you have the album art showing on the side, on my iPod, i dont get that.. Also when playing a song, you see the album art displayed differently. The whole layout is pretty much different..

 

Is there any way i get the newer software onto my older iPod?

Cover Flow and side images? Good luck, Apple is reknowned for fucking you over on firmware.

its not exactly what i'm looking for, but its still pretty tight

if you cant do a firmware update that gives you all this, dont bother with homebrew firmware, could easily brick your ipod

or a Cowon (iAudio), they are known for their great audio quality, unlike iPods. iRiver's are good as well.
