by you...I meant anyone who is reading...not YOU specifically. I would not assume you yourself would believe in Evolution. ;) You seem to be more intelligent than someone who would believe in such a thing.

I don't need to explain why I believe what I do. The same reason why I've not asked why you believe what you do. And once again, I could very easily given you a specific instance of when God has worked in my life you simply wouldn't see it as God working as you know nothing about my life.

For example, just recently...for Christmas, we as a family decided to give money away to a family we felt needed it. We choose a family who we thought needed it because they didn't have much and it was on a whim that they got the money. Come to find out that family had very little money and what money they did have was ALL spent on keeping the electricity on in their home. The money we gave them not only made their Christmas but come to find out their daughter was in need of a surgery on her lungs so that she could function in a day to day life without depending on an inhaler. God not only put on our heart to give money to this family(This was the first time we've been able to give money away) he also provided the money to give. NO ONE knew what that family was going through, yet we were able to have a sum of money to give away...and it was random that they were the ones to get it? No, you don't randomly give money and have it go to someone that not only could use it, but needed it to survive.

as for any BS you want to give to contradict that...go ahead but it will all be in vein as you know nothing at all of me or my family.

EDIT: Doody in fact that is faith. You believe what is presented to you as fact....is actual fact. As you said one person can not represent an entire belief system...so one man's fact may be another man's fiction. If you want to break it down....believe that these letters printed on a screen spell words is a faith, because to some these letters mean nothing at all. When I mentioned Atheism being a faith, I merely meant a belief system. Believing there is no god is still a faith that there is no god. As according to Atheism "God isn't real" but there is no physical proof that there is nor isn't a god. I wasn't trying to shoot down what you believe to be true.

Faith - confidence or trust in a person or thing

Evolution is actually a very valid theory, and at the very least, and attempt to explain our origins through evidence and a logical mindset. Guess that leaves religions out.

I would love to explain the reason I believe, or better yet, hold the position that I do. Agnosticism doesn't require a belief in either or.

So instead of "God" healing her, he instead relied upon your money to help with a lung transplant, even then one that's not guaranteed. Wow, he's certainly the omnipotent genius I tell you.

Of course, now we turn to the "persecution card." Ughh.

Defintion of faith - believing absurd shit even when logic and evidence go against it.

So you like "The Usual Suspects" as well?

I hope you were just quoting the movie and not bring up a horrible philosophical position.

I didnt know that was said in that movie. I just said it to say it. I havent read most of this thread so im not sure what the arguments are but i was just quoting a quote that i like. If you want my opinion ill give it, but ill wait to give it when im completely sober so i dont misqoute myself and bring even more wrongful discussion. So ill post my crap tomorrow and join the discussion.

God is a black man with an afro who is smoking a blunt. People that wrote the Bible and all those shits were also high.

Im done, you've proven your ignorance and down right hatred towards God. I get it. Perhaps before you climb back up on your pedestal you look at yourself and see what pointless attacking you've done towards me for my beliefs. I said not a single negative towards you or any of your beliefs.

All you've proven is that you're good at contradicting. ;) Which btw isn't hard at all.

As for that girl, perhaps God was killing two birds with one stone....he made our family feel good for being able to help, and he provided what was needed for that family.

I don't even understand why you care? If God is so meaningless to you, why spend so much time and effort disproving him? Thats tells me that you do believe He is real, and merely you're angry at him.

Good luck.

Your "God" doesn't care because your "God" doesn't exist. Your "God" was a mixture of beliefs taken from mainly Zoroastrianism, so it's of no concern to me. However, the religious beliefs that Christianity attempts to spread that is downright sadistic to the existence of the human mind is. So I really don't give a fuck if I'm offending you. Truth hurts sometimes.

Please show me where I've contradicted myself. I haven't, as this is just your last gasp at taking a shot at me because you can't logically attack my position. Yeah, we haven't attacked skank yet.

"Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps..." Perhaps we're making excuses for "God." Perhaps we're sitting here talking about "perhaps" too much when we should be wondering why "God" isn't saving all the other children in the world who are dying from disease and pestilence around the world. I would think of it best as a wonderful gift from the heart, and it is in my hopes your family would have done it not for the glory of a deity but the love of another human being. I sincerely doubt it though.

As for your last sentence, I live in the South. Saying that, I think you would understand my frustration with the Christian religion and the idiots who believe in it down here.

There is no physical proof of God that can't be dismissed in some way by non-believers. People are generally going to see what they want to see.

The way I see it is that if God does exist, then a whole bunch of people are going to be disappointed (Atheists). If God doesn't exist, then it doesn't really matter because death is going to suck ass for everyone. Would you rather believe that there is actually something after death or that when you die you disappear and your existence was pointless?

I believe in God because I've seen too many things in my life that make me believe He exists. It is impossible to convince someone that God does exist because they have to first convince themselves. I don't push my faith onto people because I don't feel that it is right because the choice is their's to make. I don't think less of non-believers either.

Acting ignorant to the fact that your just going to die even though your already aware of it doesn't make sense . If you really can't cope with it then read about self-preservation and stop wasting your sundays at church.

I'm not aware that I'm "just going to die" because I haven't died yet.

Anyone not open to the possibility of life after death is pretty ignorant because you can't be sure of what you haven't experienced.

What you experience is interpreted by your brain. When you die, your brain loses functionality due to lose of oxygen. So you can't experience anything once your dead.

This is basically the concept of religion's, make people think that there will be a happy ending.

If you want to completely ignore the possibility of "spirit" existing, then you would be correct. Most religious people will tell you we have souls. The only way to know exactly what happens is to actually die, so unless you have done that quit talking because your points have nothing to back them.

I don't need to be dead to know what will happen when I die. When I do, I won't be able to contemplate the thought regardless due to the reason I stated. If you actually believe you have a soul inside your body that will separate itself from you when you die, you've been talked into some serious bullshit.

QFT, scaring people is the only way to get people to believe in something. So many people are scared to go to hell that they prey; so many people are scared of terrorism they give away their rights. The majority of people that believe in god were told stories at a young age when they were gullible and they were told about hell. Let people believe in what they want, but just know that they are retarded.

tl;dc

you're problem in the end.

Ahh, the good ol' christian cop out. This is the reason I denounced myself as a Christian. They're always willing to push their bullshit onto someone else but the minute someone challenges or actually puts intelligent thought into the Bible, Jesus, or God Himself, they take the copout way of thinking, which is undoubtedly the non-christian way of thinking.

I was a Christian for 12 years, blindly following and loving Thy Lord with feelings that even I could not explain to you if I tried. However I grew up and begin to see shit not coordinating. So I challenged it, and became a Universalist (I like parts of all, but have yet to choose a dominant) with Buddhist beliefs.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand. You said that all of my information was BS, and tried to counter it, yet you only further proved my information, and now you're saying "tl;dc", and "you're problem in the end". That doesn't sound like the "Christian Way" I was taught while in Church. Sounds like you're just a hypocrite in your own religion.

Face, you got owned by logic your "God", should he actually be real, gave us. You say you have proof, and

"can rant all day"
when you have people sitting here with open ears waiting to hear everything you have to say (hell, you got me, convert me back into a full believer), yet you haven't and from what I see, can't prove his existence.

Face, you got owned with your own logic, Malum. BTW, I'm not angry with God, I want to know exactly what's messed up from his world in his own words, but rather from HIS mouth, that is, if he's real. I mean he can prove it, right, since he is all knowing?

Buddha has done more for me than God has ever, yet his principles follow the exact same way it takes a person to go to heaven, yet you don't see me praying to a dead prince, now do you?

It gets more complicated than using a crappy version of Pascal's Wager.

You're assuming that one particular "God" exists out of all the gods humanity believes in and you're also assuming that "God" works on faith alone.

tbh the main thing here is to decide upon which faith to beieve in. both islam and chhristianity belive in a hell. (very similar actually) however, one or both of them are going to be wrong. yet, both claim to be true, therfore if you believe in either your going to hell.

a question here, if a man is good all his life, gives to charity, helps out homless and yet dies with no god, why should he go to hell? whilst somone who blows the shit out of 3,000 people who work honestly go to an after life with 72 vigins (or w/e), or an evangelist who forces his religion onto other people go to heaven? how is this fair?

Humanity and it's ancestors have lasted long before the rise of these religious groups.

Some of you need to look up Zoroastrianism, a religion that predates every major monotheistic religion in practice today. You'll notice some glaring similarities with it and the three Abrahamic faiths.

i don't understand why this is in the flames section it is a debatable topic that requires knowledge unlike many other posts where people mindless say worthless information. If a topic requires people to use there mind to conduct an intellectual conversation, maybe it will stimulate their mind to become a better person and one with a better understanding of the topic. Just my two cents.

on topic : do what is best for yourself when it comes from religion. you need to be happy with your life don't let another persons bias rule your life. the end

What if what happens when you die is that you just go into the ground. You're not going to be able to find out what happens because all brain activity will shut down.

Ok, Here it is in a nutshell.

Say 25% of the people on Earth are religious christians. And the remaining 75% are not christians. Then 75% of people that have ever existed on Earth will go to Hell when they die.

I never ruled out the possibility that the God I believe in is incorrect. I only stated that through my experience I believe that a higher power does exist and that I believe that the higher power is my God.

To completely ignore all possibilities is ignorant. Don't flame me because you guys are close-minded.

OBVIOUSLY THIS IS RC BTW
