Posted January 24, 200817 yr Hello, I'm the famous American humorist and novelist, Mark Twain. I am writing a new account of the adventures of my three most lively and popular characters, Tom, Huck, and Jim. I was just curious as to what general plot all of you would be interested in reading. I was thinking along the lines of a stowaway trip to Brazil or some other country. The story would have to be set in the mid 1800's though. What do all of you think?
January 24, 200817 yr Author LOL i love you John. It's Mark, or Sam. But I don't mind what I'm called as long as it fits my boot.
January 24, 200817 yr Author this ***got is back? I am back, yes. After my death in 1910, I was absent from many social situations, but I'm back on the saddle again, so to speak. I do hope though that you would answer my question on what would interest you in my next book.
January 24, 200817 yr Author MARK TWAIN WOULD HAVE SAID "Y'ALL" NOT "ALL OF YOU" Failed impersonation One of my characters with a southern dialect would definitely have said "y'all." But I am an English professional, a sophisticated linguist with the utmost respect for grammar. My mastery of regional rhetoric is largely responsible for my success in novels, but if you examine my short stories, you will see that when I myself am speaking, I write properly. Looks like you fail. (Nota Bene: I am not an impersonator.)
January 25, 200817 yr haha ownt captian..just like the chargers ;) If you knew anything about Samuel Clemens, or had ever read a speach of his, you would know that I was not "ownt". My original statement is correct, and those that say it isn't know him only as a writer, and not comedian, or lecturer. I simply choose to stop the argument with this kid before it started, because as a literary major, there is nothing useful I will learn from a discussion with a troll pretending to be Mark Twain on the myg0t forums.

Very well. I shall use one of my short prose works, "Advice To Youth" (text can be found here) as an example. You see, my use of English is well pronounced and I do not use any colloquialisms as I have in my Adventures of Tom and Huck books, such as "y'all". Here is another example, A Ghost Story. Did I use "y'all" at all? No, but I did use "you all." So excuse you Mr. Literary Major, who is trying to perpetrate that your knowledge of myself surpasses that of my own. You are despicable and I ought to chastise you thoroughly, but I don't have the time. If I wasn't occupied with my new book, I'd really let you have it.
January 25, 200817 yr you have to give it John Winthrop..or Carl..or Mark Twain...the guy writes pretty well...I still think it is ridiculous you take on different personalities for a forum...especially this forum:O_o:
January 25, 200817 yr Author . Your ellipsis provides no vice for your argument. Be a man and speak what your voice says, not another's.
