It usually limits cars to 120 or 140 mph, but there are ways to bypass it by flashing the ECU of the car and disabling that governor. That's supposedly what this kid did to his dad's BMW M5 and then they tried to top out the speed in it.. They hit 170 before flying off the ridge for 200 feet and then hitting a tree over 45 feet off the ground. Fucking idiots. That's why you don't hand your keys to your $120k car to your 18 year old son and his 4 friends.
