Posted March 27, 200817 yr My new comp I built...well relatively new compared to the ohter one I use... won't boot at all...yesterday it was restarting sporadically and I figured it was overheating and I had to clean the dust out...I didn't have compressed air so I used Kleenex...and I did this all on the carpet...so I'm figuring something must've shortened out the power supply because now its dead as a doorknob...that computer is kickass too...has great hardware....I kept it superclean and wouldn't use the internet on it...it was my gaming comp. Any suggestions?

You probably fried your motherboard, or you don't have something plugged in. Remember next time to rub your feet on the carpet and take your finger straight to the motherboard.:wtcslap:

There are no lights on the motherboard or anywhere...as I said before it seems totally dead..I think the Power Supply just ran its last mile...I hope to God its just the Power Supply and not the motherboard...lots of good stuff on that comp. Its funny because there's really no good reason why it acted like this...I ran it straight for 2 yrs with no problems, and I turned it off very rarely. At this point what you should do is bring your PC to a local geek shop and ask the dudes there to test another PSU on the mobo. Since I dont recommend you to pull another PSU from another system and test it yourself. And if the computer is completely dead(mobo fried) your harddrive still has those files on it.
April 18, 200817 yr Your PSU will probably have a switch on it, one side is for ON and one for OFF... try turning it ON and start your pc again. (note: you have to wait a few secs b4 pushing the power button after you've turned your PSU on). glad I could help.:nigga:
April 30, 200816 yr submerge all the parts in water with it all plugged in and try to turn it on. if it turns on, load css and you'll have undetectable uber hax. trust me.

May 2, 200816 yr One way to tell if a power supply is dead is to check if it arcs. As you push the live power cable into the back of the computer you should hear an arcing noise. If you cleaned the motherboard while it was on the carpet you are an idiot. Static electricity is not your friend.
