Cheap alcohol and women. Haha, probably towards gas seeing as it keeps rising.
If I were getting money, but I'm not cause I made less than 3000 last year, I'd be going straight to the strip club.

is this yet another type of welfare that americans get, or something?

Pretty much. Bush has decided that since he sucks as being president and has doubled our deficet and threw America into a recession he should give something back to "stimulate" the economy. But since gas is about 3.75 a gallon on average then most people will just put it towards gas. So really its a lost cause but at least we get a little extra cash out of it.

I wish I could find gas for $3.75. Avg for reg. here is $3.95. I paid 4.09 today for prem.

hahahahahaha.

the point of this economic stimulus plan is to...well stimulate the economy. we're in a regular economic downturn and this is to help ease it.

the economy goes in a cyclic trend just like the environment.

First off, you can't double something that doesn't exist. When bush took office there was a budget surplus.

Second, yes bush sucks at being president but irresponsible subprime mortgage lenders and moronic investors who got in at the end of a bubble trying to capitalize on a saturated market put the country into the credit crunch.

Third, the dow is back at 13,000. I don't think you can really call this a recession, or at least yet. Compare graphs of the dow when the recession hit in early 2002 with now. It was a much sharper downturn. Yeah there has been a decline recently, but the dow only took like 40 trading days to go from 13,000 to 14,000 and thats a good indication that things are overbought. We were due for a correction IMO. What we had when the dow and nasdaq were soaring was a buying bubble. Unfortunately, you don't really know for sure that you're in a bubble until you come out of it.

That is true but we were still around 4 trillion in debt and now we're at like 9 or 10? I get what you're saying though.

Im sure thats part of the reason but most will agree the war in Iraq is the main reason we are where we are.

You obviously know more about stocks and dow than i do so i wont try and argue with that. I guess i cant really say we're in a recession yet. But we're definately headed into one. With gas going up, housing going down, people just aren't spending like they should i guess. Thats why this packet deal was just another mistake. Its 140 billion dollars that could've went to something better. (Except its Bush in office so he would've put it straight into Iraq)

Half of it is good old fashioned American oil company greed. XOM and BP have posted profits far beyond what any company has ever made in a quarter. They don't NEED oil at over $120 a barrel, but they certainly like it that way. I think the price of oil was close to $50/barrel before sept 11th (too lazy to look it up right now). Thank god in 50 years there will be no more oil and all those motherfuckers will get to feel what its like to be broke. Not to mention that the only Islamic nations with wealth with be thrust back into the third world when they have to rely on auxiliary means of economic prosperity (bomb making?).

Also, I don't think America has built a new oil refinery in the country since the 70s. A big part of the reason for the price of oil jumping so much is the fact that so much of it isn't refined in the US from crude.

IMO America should augment its refining capacity to help with the long term price trend. However, the pure fact remains that we're just living in the matrix, there is no oil, no spoon, etc.

Yeah for a second there your problems were almost solved.

By the way, is that you in your sig? Who does that?

I've been trying to find a link on the website to check the status of mine. Any ideas?

I don't think such a massive thing would have a web end like that. Especially with the way hackers are these days.

The rate at which you receive it may depend on how early you got your tax return info in, but in terms of checking on the web I'd have to say its very unlikely that you'll find anything out of use.

No way to check the actual day. But they're going by the last 2 digits of your social. Direct deposits are going to be received sooner than mailed checks of course. Last 2 digits for me are 67 and i think the last wave of them are within the next couple of days. So you should be getting yours within a week or so.

Yeah, I was reading up on it. Looks like mailed checks aren't in until june (for me anyways).
